Judi Werthein an artist from Argentina, who entered the US legally 1997, is giving the shoes along with a compass, a flashlight and a map to illegal
immigrants to help them cross the border.
She defends her position by saying that the illegal immigrants will cross the border anyway so why not help.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of "Brinco" sneakers, in the US will go to Casa del Migrante, a Tijuana shelter that is a waystation for
those who are planning to cross the Mexican / US Border.
SAN DIEGO - The high-top sneakers cost $215 at a San Diego boutique, but the designer is giving them away to migrants before they cross to this side
of the U.S.-Mexico border.
These are no ordinary shoes.
A compass and flashlight dangle from one shoelace. The pocket in the tongue is for money or pain relievers. A rough map of the border region is

The US is the Home of the Brave and Land of the Free, but this is going too far. I am all for the freedom of speech but I can see nothing that would
/ should prevent this woman from being prosecuted (successfully) for aiding and abetting a crime.
It is getting ridiculous the exteremes that US companies and the Mexican officials will go through to continue flooding the US with illegal
