ABC news is reporting that a 40 foot Tsunami is imminent as it was/ is an offshore quake..waiting for updates

Japan has a very good Tsunami alert system, one of the best in the whole world I would say.

Bad luck with this earthquake they had a 7.2 not to long ago

Thats awful, but they do have a great alert system. I hope they can get to a safe place.

It seems like there's no tsunami threat. The U.S. says the quake wasn't powerful enough to create a Pacific-wide threat and Japan already got hit by a local tsunami that was only 4 inches high, according to the BBC article.

I could only imagine how many people might have been saved if the countries that got hit by the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami had one like Japans in place.

I wish the West coast of the US and Canada had one that good
