It turns out that Terminators can be stopped, and by an unlikely group: Nurses.

Just days after he lost several ballot initiatives he was supporting, Governor Schwarzenegger has dropped a legal challenge to the mandatory staffing ratio's in hospitals. The ratios which California voters enacted a few years ago, require hospitals to maintain limits on how many patients nurses are assigned during thier shifts. (Icu's were already governed under California law). The governor has been fighting a legal fight to postpone or roll back the ratios. This is great news for California patients and nurses!!!!!

California Governor Drops Fight With Nurses
LOS ANGELES, Nov. 11 -- Just days after voters roundly rejected a slate of his ballot initiatives, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) has backed out of a fight with California's nurses, who hounded him throughout his unsuccessful campaign.

Late Thursday, the Republican governor dropped his year-long legal effort to roll back legislation requiring hospitals to maintain a ratio of one nurse to every five patients. California's attorney general withdrew Schwarzenegger's appeal of a judge's ruling against him in the staffing fight.
