Voters approved ballot measures to ban handguns in San Francisco and urge the city's public high schools and college campuses to keep out military recruiters.

With 100 percent of San Francisco precincts reporting on Wednesday, 58 percent of voters backed the proposed gun ban while 42 percent opposed it.

Measure H prohibits the manufacture and sale of all firearms and ammunition in the city, and make it illegal for residents to keep handguns in their homes or businesses.

Now what do you think will happen? Peaceful city or will the criminals have a free field? Victims are what this city government wants.

Get the current crime number for SF and watch. If this is not overturned some how crime mostly violent will rise, so will taxes for more police, medical and welfare.

I read where the NRA is going to challenge and I hope they win.

When will the socialist/ communist in the country give it up? They know full well that they can't take us over if the population is armed, so they keep on trying don't they.

Well at least 42% of SF is sane. So there is hope.

Is this for real?! What? Wow! I can't believe this. Why Isn't this making national news? San Fran is a huge city and they can't even buy ammunition now?!!

California law prohibites this SF law as it upseats the jurisdiction of the state.(the state already has pre emption laws against this) So the NRA will sue and win.

then it mightl get appealed to the Supreme court so those idiots can take a shot at another 2nd ammendment interpretation. (and maybe a states right issue).

This is just insanity as far as I'm concerned. I'm puzzled, too.

Citing statistics that show most homicides in the city involve handguns, Daly said "every life that's saved with Proposition H is a big win."

So I guess in the future, these would-be homocide-committers won't use guns because that's against the law...
They'll commit their homocides with bats and rocks.

I'm having some difficulty finding information on this, but wasn't there a similar banning of guns in the UK that caused crime to go up? I was looking because I thought they repealed the ban and the crime rate went down.

If criminals know that law abiding citizens aren't carrying, it just makes them easier targets in their minds.

I don't see the point... If someone wants a gun and ammo to commit a crime, they'll be able to get it. That's regardless of there being gun control or not too. Also, I don't understand the wanting to ban military recruiters from high schools and college campusses.

Some people really are nut jobs...

You folks need to keep some things in mind when considering especially California and particularly San Francisco.

First off the State of California in the news media and education is used or misused very often to represent all of the United States carte blanche. If you want to know anything about the United States go to the news media and they will automatically flash California in front of the viewer. California is in the news media the very standard...the epitome of what the United States should be and if they have thier way ..will become. Nothing else ..no other State in the United States counts like California. Anything concerning the State of California is usually flashed in front of the screens as representing all of America by silent implication. How dare you try to think any kind of intelligent thoughts outside of what they are doing in California.
The next State to represent most of the United States by default is New York. Once again carte blanche to play thorough. No other States count in the media when representing all of the United States. Especially and particularly in the arena of social change.
Anything done in these states particularly will be heralded in the media as greatness and necesary for the betterment of mankind. The rest of the states must soon follow. Particularly in education ..much of the changes in our educational institutions have come from these two states.
I sickens me to see this ignorance play through in the bulk of the media ...by constantly flashing California and New York as if they represent all of the United States...no other states matter. Teach yourself to notice this oppressive silence technique when it is flashed in front of you through the boob tube or the radio. It is highly insulting to the rest of the United States.

The reason you have not heard much about this measure in the media is that the media is very liberal oriented and they know the power of groups like the NRA and others and also that with this administration ...gun control is not a popular topic and will not be allowed to play through as it obviously does in California.
The media also knows that the NRA and others will challange this in court. Only if the very liberal state of California wins or particularly San Francisco...will it be touted in the news from coast to coast..watch closely for this event if it happens. It will clearly mark the fingerprint of the media for what it is.
If the Democrats or particularly Clinton supporters were still in office you would hear this touted from coast to coast. When the political winds change you will see this come back again.

On a further note...the Illinois city of Morton Grove was one of the first to ban handguns ...within the city. What happened afterwords was very downplayed in the news. For one thing this was before the advent of home computers. Crime rates particularly breakins went up in the town of Morton Grove...this was not reported in the media so as to have this very liberal policy play through unchallanged. The local police were not up to protecting the individual citizens in Morton Grove ...they did however ...collect alot of data to support more police..as happens in alot of citys. The same thing could be said in Citys like Washington DC.
Oh .by the way ...the particular manner in which this works..is that the people in power get to have handguns but the populace as a whole do not. This is the case with leaders like Diane Feinstein ..who had protection and arms in San Francisco. Same for the city council of Morton Grove.
The standard fingerprint of this type of public policy is that the limits are always put on the public ..not the body politic. Prepare yourselves for more of this...they are just waiting for the political partys in office to change.
Free people means a limited body politic ..not limited people..got the point????
Free policitians means limited people ..particularly in the arena of Public Education so that you do not have the ability to think outside of certain permissable thought patterns. Some of you folks need to be aware of this line of thinking. This becomes obvious by the sorry state of education in California..among other things. Gun control is just a small facet of the state of California ...but used to expand this thinking to the rest of the nation.
Be aware of this fingerprint when you watch the news or what is happening in pubic schools.

Thanks orangetom....

I do believe that one of the main reasons California and New York are held in the high esteem they are (:lol
is because those are more portrayed in movies than any other city. They are always the more visible of really any state.

Sites like ATS are always good for getting people to think outside the box. Since I've been a member on this site and reading up I've found out more of what's going on in the world than I knew before. Lately I've been spending a lot of time on the site reading the debates back and forth and I'm glad there are more people out in the world with open minds.

I really hope San Fransisco, and every other villiage, town, city, etc., will be able to keep their 2nd Amendment rights.

I brought this to you form another site by someone who traveled to SF. He is upset and said he won't go back. If it wern't for him I would have missed it.

The news media is on the side of the socialist elite so the media won't bring this up for our attention. Again the media is not our friend.

I Glock, there for I am.

I think this needs to get bumped because there has been no national news coverage of this. If this is real, then its a conspiracy in itself that the nation media isn't reporting on it.

As I stated earlier. The problem is that this ruling or law in San Francisco will have to be appealed to higher courts. The highest court in California is the California Supreme Court. I dont hold much hope for that court. Worse than that if it goes through the Federal Courts it will find its way to the 9th Court of Appeals. This is a notorious court of very liberal thinking judges. It will have to get through this court before it finds its way to the US Supreme Court. Not likely.

Shaker I do agree with you that these states are heavily represented in movies but this is not it in toto. These states ,however, just as you stated are so often in the news .
I just dont believe this is cause to have these states by silence represent all of the United States especially in the manner presented so often in the media. I think this is a insult to most of the people here in the United States and I believe that many people in many states are begining to think along these lines though they may not be able as of yet to vocalize this line of thinking. Give it time..the media is becoming its own worst enemy in this.
Agree once again with your assessment that ATS is good for getting thinking people to think outside the box. I dont agree with alot of people on here but I must admit there is a good cross section of opinion here.

Also once again ..if this sticks in San Francisco..and or remains unchallanged it will become highly touted in the media coast to coast. Watch for this as a fingerprint of the complicity of the news media in this controled system of thought.

Thanks to all for your posts,

i consider myself to be a very patriotic american veteran. i love my country. but i am also a very firm believer in the constitution, especially the bill of rights. i will tell you right now, and i dont care who is reading this:

if they try to take away my right to protect myself and my family, they will have to pry my firearms from my cold, dead hands.

You dont try to have them pry your guns from your cold dead hands. Thats just dumb. You build a cache...a secret cache. You also acquire some cheap throw away firearms that you can afford to lose. These you give to them when they come for collection. Caches are useful for so many things not just firearms. There are books on this subject. Web sites too. Its up to you whether you want your wife/woman to know about it. Children ..no way..they are constantly trying to get kids to tell on their parents in pubic schools.
I' ve seen one which is a dummy water heater complete with internal shelves for ammunition and cleaning supplies. It came from a book article. Others are made to look like something else...some complete with locks. After all we must be responsible where children and others are concerned. Use your head Snafu..not your emotions. Your a better man than that ..apply the gray matter to the problem..you will come up with a solution. It s not that hard..you just have to use planning and knowlege.
There was a book out years ago..titled " Construction of secret hiding places" I am sure that others have been published since then. Up to you to do your homework. Think it through with more than just emotions..olde man...get started.
