It looks like SOME Newspapers/Tabloids, are not watching what is going on, like in Switzerland and Hungary.

And whats troubeling is the last Paragraph, said by the Danish police, stating that this Case could Escalate into something bigger...

Yes, if people don't start to chill out, and start thinking/acting more creative in a positive way, instead of the 'normal' agressive, shortminded, destructive way, that humans tend to do. -Some unfortunate event might pour even more gas on the fire.

Just wanted to add to Souljahs last add, to clarify, if ANYONE thought something else. -Danish police IS NOT stating that something bigger in 'planned'. They are just worried for stupid peoples actions!

No country that provides freedom of speech can provide freedom from being offended or insulted

No "speech" that is noncontroversial and doesn't offend or bother anyone needs to be protected. It's the speech that people do find offensive is what the freedom is all about.

I predict a bombing in Copenhagen within 2 weeks... We have already been warned by an islamic group. *Sigh*

Here´s the story. Free speech is one thing, but what about truth? Is this the reason why they shut down embassies, boycotting Danish goods and are ready to bomb Denmark? Why is this man saying one thing in Denmark (public on television) and then he say the complete opposite on Al Jazeera?

The Al-Aksa Martyrs’ Brigades (affiliated with Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah party) who shut down the European Union's office on Thursday gave an 8:00 pm deadline for European governments to apologize for the publication of a cartoon depicting Muhammed in a Danish newspaper.




This deadline ended half an hour ago; no EU government apologized.

Foreign diplomats and journalists began pulling out of the Palestinian areas and the European Union closed down its offices in Gaza City and ordered its staff to leave the city out of fear for their lives.

Spain, Germany, Hungary, Norway, Iceland, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Italy - have printed the cartoons, often as a gesture in defence of free speech - The BBC today showed the images on today's One O'Clock News bulletin and on the News 24 channel; no other British news organisation had previously shown the cartoons.


Al- Jazeera news network just reported that a German citizen was kidnapped in Nablus this evening in response to the printing of caricatures of the Islamic prophet Mohammed in some European newspapers.

UPDATE:

PA police found the four kidnappers and the German, arrested two of the gunmen and freed the hostage. The whole incident lasted less than an hour.

But who is to set the boundaries on what is acceptable, you, me, John Kerry, George Bush? The whole point of free speech is then defeated. This is what these islamic fanactics want. You can say whatever bad things about Christianity, Judaism, Hundusism, etc....but you can't say anything about islam. Basically, they want you to shut your pie hole unless it's about someone else, or in their favor.

Of course now the Danes are now reaping what they have sown for their choices in free speech. I, for one though, shall buy Danish products whenever I get the chance.

Non of the Arabic countries have an Islamic constitution except Saudi Arabia . Go and do some research and read the constitutions of all Arab countries.

first you cannot say any criticism about Judaism and Israel , for example in the western world you cannot deny the right of Israel to exist nor you can say that the Jewish temple never existed. and both of these things are directly related to Judaism religion.
The boundaries from my point of view are:

1) Fairness & Equality :

you have to treat all religions equally , either you prohibit offending all religions or you allow offending them all equally.



2) Respect to other parties :

I believe that under freespeech it is necessary to respect others' race, religion, sex. To avoid any racist , anti-religion or sexist talk that could spread hatred between different parties.
Do these things sound familiar? don’t you have rules in your countries similar to these?

It's satire. Plain and simple.

All the other major religions tolerate it, it's acceptable in western democracy, their just a lot more mature about the whole thing. We have the freedom to poke fun and criticise any belief or ideology going. There isn't anything sinister about it.

I don't believe in Islam. In fact, I think it's a load of tosh. Am I to expect a dozen masked men branding AK-47's outside my house because I disagree with their belief and think their acting like spoilt children over nothing?

Maybe Islam just needs to grow up a bit like the other religions instead of throwing it's bottle out of the pram every time somebody decides to make a comment on it.
