The ATS Dummy Search Tool

Topic started on 11-11-2005 @ 02:19 PM by junglejake

ATS has a pretty comprehensive search tool to find various threads and information, but did you know there's also a search for dummies?

It is a secret "easter egg" page that you need to know about to use. I stumbled upon it by accident. You will have to modify the URL for the member you want to do a dummy search for. The url, with the member's name as underscores in this case, is:

www.abovetopsecret.com...

If you get any posts returned, those are things you said that a moderator clicked on their "dummy" button for, adding you to the list. To view the actual post that got you the "dummy" label (if there are any), just click the subject; they're all links. Just replace the underscores with your or some other member's name to see if you're considered a dummy here.

I did a search for myself, and came up with nothing; apparently, I'm no dummy. For proof, here's the link:

www.abovetopsecret.com...|ejake&Dummy=YES&searchsubmit=a&srchfid=all&srchfrom=0

What about you, are you a dummy?

EDIT: This should be easier to copy and paste, just replace the underscore with your name.

www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/misc.php?action=nsearch&srchuname=_______&Dummy=YES&searchsubmit=a&srchfid=all&srchfrom=0

The thing is broken. I still don't know what dummy search means. You'll have to explain very sloooowly.

Here's a link for your name, ufia...Bad news, that last post heads up the list of "dummy" posts

EDIT: Remember, you have to replace all of the underscores (____) with your name. your link looks like this:

www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/misc.php?action=nsearch&srchuname=ufia&Dummy=YES&searchsubmit=a&srchfid=all&srchfrom=0

I did it but got a page.. and all my posts showed up either all my like lots of post were dummy posts or it just does my most recent post. Also I can't view the actual post that is the dummy one. I click the link but it just takes me to the begginning of the thread.

EDIT: yeah it just showed this post like 2 seconds after I made it so....

Jake

I know this is the joke section, but did you know that you can save all that cutting, pasting and typing by going to anyone's post and clcking "find posts" at the bottom of the post or by searching out a member in the member search and clicking "Search for all posts by this ATS member?"

Ahh, but that link doesn't have the "Dummy=YES" variable set, as my link does. There is a difference between those posts flagged as dummy posts, and those posts that make a coherent thought and position. As of yet I haven't found a member with a post in their all posts link that doesn't appear in the Dummy list, but I'm sure someone's out there.
