These articles further state that Jordan evacuated the Israelis. Why would the Jordanian government evacuate Israelis and not their own citizens? That also does not make very much sense.

As for you other replies about Greater Israel. This is really strange, only an extremly small minority of Israelis hold this view. Furthermore, how could a country of 6 million hope to occupy territory containing so many Arabs. Israel may have a first class army but it is geared for defensive purposes.

Israel occupied the territories after the 1967 war. Egypt had blockaded Israeli shipping, an act of war. It was obvious that all of the surrounding nations were planning to attack Israel. Israel struck first and took areas that had been a source of attacks against it. The Golan hieghts are totally non-negotiable. Syria used them to exclusivly bombard Israeli settlements. They do not deserve this territory back, no matter what.

I must ask you, if the Palestinians wanted a state so bad, how come there was no antifada against Jordan and Egypt in nearly 20 years of occupation. How come even then their actions were exclusivly aimed at Israel? I support an Israeli withdraw from Gaza(already done), and a withdrawal from all West Bank settlements that do not belong to the large Block outside Jerusalem. I do not support giving East Jerusalem to the Palestinians. When the Arabs controlled it others were not allowed to worship. I would support making East Jerusalem a zone administered by some outside agency.

Even so I fail to see how a Palestinian state is viable, it would be two separate entities, as Israel could hardly allow a connecting road without giving up security. Palestinian terrorist groups want the total destruction of Israel, they always have and always will. In this case the terrorists and others will hurt the rest of them.

I fail to see how Israel practices a policy of racism when all Arabs, and Christians inside Israel have freedom of religion and equal rights. There are Palestinian representitives to the knesset. The Arabs in Israel live better then practically anywhere else. They commit practically no attacks against Israel, maybe even none. How is that racism and discrimination.

You and many others assign Israel more blame then it deserves. The UN has sanctioned Israel far more then any other country for far smaller breaches then other nations. There is a clear double standard and this has to do with the oil wealth of Arab countries.

Oil rich Arab dictatorships use Israel as a scapgoat for their internal problems. They focus public rage against it and its so called mistreatment of the Palestinians. These nations have far sway due to oil so Israel is heavily sanctioned, while other nations achieve no where near that level of sanction.

Israel has been sanctioned for human rights violations more then any other nation on earth. This is almost laughable, when one considers the scale of human rights violations in other parts of the globe. Suadi Arabia, Syria, and other Arab countries have never been sanctioned. A clear double standard.

Good catch, Helmutt. I don't know what that number is, or how it is assigned.

But it seems to be legit and a red herring. If you goto that page and look down along the right margin under More Headlines, click on any of those links and you'll see that the number is higher for many earlier entries.

Doesn't seem to be any deception here.

The Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported that Israelis staying at the Radisson on Wednesday had been evacuated before the attacks and escorted back home "apparently due to a specific security threat."

Amos N. Guiora, a former senior Israeli counter-terrorism official, said in a phone interview with The Times that sources in Israel had also told him about the pre-attack evacuations.

"It means there was excellent intelligence that this thing was going to happen," said Guiora, a former leader of the Israel Defense Forces who now heads the Institute for Global Security Law and Policy at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. "The question that needs to be answered is why weren't the Jordanians working at the hotel similarly removed?"
