I've done my own research on the subject, apart from the project, and here's what I've come up with.

This issue has got me quite stumped.

I've come up with a few possibilities:
1. John Titor's claims are founded in/have a basis in reality. He is very cryptic about specific details, and the mood in which he stated them indicates government training. He speaks in riddles, the way that we've all heard those spys speak in movies, and the way that it's been documented that the 'cammo dudes' at are at area 51 speak.

This leaves us with a few possibilities.
a. John Titor is what he claims to be.
b. John Titor is a government plant/conspiracy
c. John Titor is an extremely well informed civilian, bent on confusing us all.
d. John Titor is a physicist playing with our heads
e. John Titor is an EBE

2. The Schematic of his time-travelling device is is intriguing, to say the least. I'm no engineer, but it looks pretty genuine. Plus, he talks about the travel in 'Years per hour.' I've never thought of time travel like that. Perhaps that is actually the way it works....

3.The predictions that he has made are eerily on-target. He has said things about wars in the middle-east heating up, and that it would be a sign of escalated war worldwide. He also talks about april 19th as a day to remember...Let's think...was he talking about something that is yet to come, or has happened already? What are some things that have happened throughout history? Well, I can't think of anything offhand, but someone let me know.

5. John Titor has not been heard from since March 24, 2001. He purportedly returned home, to 2036. NO person ever made physical contact, nor has anyone found evidence of him still being in our 'timeline' as he put it.

6. He also reminded us all of the potential disaster averted in Y2K. the language that he used indicated that he, or someone else warned someone. I'm curious as to how whether or not this actually occured.

Well, that's all so far, but I'll be getting back to you with the rest. However, thus far, My conclusion is that John Titor is genuine. Questions, Comments? Enjoy. Peace.

I think he was a spook, or spy, likely CIA but could even have been foreign.

I posted this before somewhere around here.

His stories don't add up, and overall he seems to have a hatred for the USA which is not explained by him in any way. Most of the US bashers around here have more reasons for what they do than this guy has.

Furthermore, how did he pay his bills for 4 months? Where did he live? How did he function in society so foreign to him? How did he learn to use a computer? Why didn't the guy at IBM talk or turn him in or even come forward after the fact?

What is that machine he claims is a time machine, can it work?

Why is he so socialistic in some of his politics and then so much a patriot in other ways?

Is that IBM computer what he cracked it up to be?

Why does a crude 70's desktop computer which is mostly 'gates' with a crude processor so valuable when he says 'the operating system was mostly operated by keyboard input?'

Good questions.

The bit about paying bills for 4 months closes the case for me, in favour of him being fake.

Unless he watched Back To The Future in errrrr the future and took an idea off in regards to the money.

I'd say he is a crackpot.

Although I've come to the conclusion that it's a hoax, I'm still constantly seeing questions like these that reveal the fact that you obviously didn't study this enough to be asking questions.

1) He stated that he had money from this time, and he lived with his parents.
2) He claimed to be a historian, so this wouldn't have been foreign to him any more than history wouldn't be to a history teacher.
3) Computers still exist in his time.
4) It was his grandfather.
5) Look it up. The 5100 has always been capable of APL, Basic, or both.

It sounds like the guy borrowed a fair bit from Back To The Future to me.

Robert A. Heinlein fan.

Read all 8 of these interesting theories on time travel. Nothing JT was talking about was any new concept.

I've been reading the John Titor saga for a while now, I cant take him seriously. His " predictions" are interesting
see here

www.johntitor.com... ( check the menus to the left to find the predictions)

with the ones contained on THIS page

www.newprophecy.net...

there's more than an overlap going on.

Mclelland even comments on Titor on his discussion board in this thread here

www.forumco.com... +Dixon

but I agree, a damn good hoax

I'm going with option D.

"d. John Titor is a physicist playing with our heads "

I've already seen an IBM programmer blow that whole computer arguement out of the water...and I don't necessarily think that it requires him to be a physicist, merely one familiar with various physics concepts....etc.

Also... does anyone recollect about him saying that they do NOT pay income taxes in the future. And then later I read in one of his supposed posts that they DO have income taxes?

Personally it sounds interesting, but it's just probably false hope being given again by another one who claims to have info, but won't divulge it. Shredding the idea that proof means something.

just a further note on John Titor's predictions.......

in a book titled " Alas Babylon" you have the following

-The main character of the book (Randy Bragg) lives in a rural area central Florida next to a major army base when Russia launches a nuclear bomb there. Same as John.

-In the book, the new capitol of the United States is moved to Omaha, Nebraska. Same place as John's new capitol.

This similarity was noted on another John Titor discussion board, see here

www.timetravelinstitute.com...

with more similarities.
Sounds WAY too similar for me.

Sheesh. Isn't this DEAD yet?

He's a kid (20-something), as the physicist who replied to the research said. He only sounds convincing if you don't know anything about computer hardware, computer software (I've got a Masters' in computer engineering, so I do know something about this) and if you haven't read much on science or history.

Check our research forum. The physicist who replied said it a number of times: this is just some loon, playing with your head. "Titor" lied constantly, and wove his little story, getting his jollies from the people who didn't do their research. He was constantly exposed as a hoax.

...sheesh. It's dead. "Titor The Twit" is alive, he's probably dropped out of college, and will show up soon with Yet Another Hoax to get some attention to his pathetic little life -- because he's not brave enough or strong enough or willing to work hard enough to really become what he dreamed of.

Satyr,

what assumption makes it valid that the exact same currency is used from the future when they are changing the paper currency now as we speak?

I did do some research on the 5200 and it does do basic assembly in several early computing languages but in one of his posts he stated that a certain degree of work is done at the keyboard level.

Since I am not a programmer, I am assuming that it is similar to entering in basic commands which are then interpreted by the machine. I think that software can do this now and I assume it would in future. Correct me if I am wrong.

Just out of interest
Has no one thought of tracing his IP address?
Personally I think he is a hoax, all the information in terms of physics he released are readily available in books (to my knowledge), he just sounds like a person who is well read.
If time travel was such a common thing, why not continue to travel back and post messages then return?

In my 2012, I was 14 years old spending most of my time living, running and hiding in the woods and rivers of central Florida''''

All it would take would be for someone in central florida to do a directory enquiries for all Titor's, and get ringing.
right?
He would be 3-5 now.

browha,

I already mentioned about the IP address in the past, certainly doubt I was the first person to say that.

You idea of looking for him now makes a lot of sense and is doable.

He should exist as promised.

k, sorry bout the ip thing
but I think the hospital/birth records thing would be HIGHLY interesting.

hospital/birth records would only be of use if you knew his real name. John Titor wasnt his real name.

This one has really peaked my interest,
if you look over @ anomalies.net you can meet people that have met him, I have read through theit attempts to locate him, which is hard as Titor is not his real name but a derivitive of Timetravler 0 or something like that.
He undoubtedly covered his tracks with regards to ip address.
With regards to inconsistencies in his 'evidence' nobody is perfect tommorrows future is made from todays people who are fallable, in the extreme in some cases. He is not anti USA... He is anti us government.
You have just got to have an open mind. If this is a hoax it is beautifully detailed and elaborate, and should in many ways be as exciting if we really had a time traveller, the human race hasnt lost its imagination.
