GOP Considers Ending Birthright Citizenship, Mexican Border Fences (moved from ATSNN)

In seeking solutions to illegal immigration in the US, Republicans in the House are considering legislation to end the natural birthright to US citizenship povided by the 14th Ammendment. They are also considering erecting fences along the Mexican border. A task force of party leaders has been meeting since summer, and has seen the two options climb to the top of the list.

Yippee! Do it, do it, oh please dear Lord, DO IT. I have long thought exactly the same thing. It is not right for people that are here illegally to have kids and then just because they were born on American soil, get all the benefits of US citizenship. They are no more part of the US at that point than their Mexican counterparts.

I see Mexican kids on my street all the time, very young, speaking, screaming and yelling in nothing but Spanish. I have met and know several Mexican families and guess what language they speak to just born babies? Spanish.

Newly born children like this are still Mexican, come from Mexican families, and will still persist in putting up their damn signs in Spanish, right in our country. God, that pisses me off, and some of you may remember my rants about it in my Foreign Language Signs podcast.

My vote is for both measures to be taken: Build the wall and END this rediculous citizen birthright for children born to illegals.

USA is a country of illegals immigrants... if there were no immigrant in USA, the population would be about 15/20 millions...

So, where do we stop illegal immigration?

I doesn't matter that this country is made up of immigrants.
When it gets to the point where we can't take care of the people who are already here we don't need any more.

Any boat will sink if you pile enough people on it....

Most early immigrants to America came through Rikers Island also.

The day for granting anchor babies citizenship is long past. It may have served a purpose long ago, but now it is just a convenient way for the parents to skirt around the law.

Just remember, for an anchor baby to become a citizen, it's mother had to have broken the law in the first place.


....and came here and applied for citizenship the legal way.

So, where do we stop illegal immigration? In it's tracks, at the borders. Then we do things the right way - we determine how many immigrants we can reasonably absorb each year.

I think that it is ironic that, when you realize how many people hate the USA and think we are corrupt, etc., they still want to come over here.
Wonder why that is?

If you ask an American Indian i'm sure that they believe that every last one of us should be using a green card.

The simple fact is this country NEEDS migrant workers to haul in the produce and slaughter the chickens that keep the natural born citizens of this country fat and on our sofas while watching mind numbing sitcoms.

To put it mildly, the system is broken and we need to find a way to fix it.

Getting rid of all illegals will not fix it, we NEED them.

We need to find a way to make them legal, to integrate them into a modern society and away from the third world conditions they are accustomed too. We need to stop exploiting them for our own gain and find a way to give them the same chance our ancestors had when they fled Europe.

We have a statue of liberty that faces Europe, We need one that faces South America.

We also need an immigration policy that welcomes them and makes them a part of our society.

By legalizing it.

There are legal ways available today, they don't want to use them. Then the social costs we end up paying drive us to the poorhouse.

There are several good proposals put out there by members of Congress. One is a six-year process, where they are allowed to work here in the interim. Fees are also involved.

Amnesty is not the answer.


Many of the early immigrants, the Irish, the Germans, the Poles, etc., did not have it easy at all when they arrived here. It was not uncommon to see signs in windows stating "No Irish need apply".

The early immigrants built the railroads, mined the coal, etc. Not very easy jobs. And no gov't handouts, like many people look for these days.

I wish we could undo what was done to the Native Americans. Unfortunately it is a little late to undo it, altho I do think we can try to help thier decendants like we have letting them have casinos where they are not allowed and maybe tax breaks would be good too.

We dont need Illegals at all. Make the generational welfare recipients who do not want to get educated and off welfare do the jobs the illegals do. Simple fix.
Either go to school for a fixed amount of time to better yourself, or become a picker or whatever job *Americans don't want to do* or lose your welfare. Should also lose welfare if they have a kid while on welfare.
