Iran breaks down – In secret talks with the US and UK…

Scuttlebutt has it that Iran has been broken by the international pressure and has entered secret talks with the west to alleviate the problem. Representatives from Iran are talking to the US and UK in Geneva and Sweden the report shows.

Tehran, Iran, Nov. 03 – Iran is secretly carrying out secret talks with the United States and Britain in two European countries, according to a report on a government-owned Persian-language website.

Iran is being represented in nuclear talks with British officials in Geneva by Javad Vaeedi, who heads the international security department of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, the website Aftab reported. Aftab belongs to the allies of former President Ali-Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani.

Iranian negotiators had been dispatched to Sweden, where they are holding secret talks with the head of the Afghanistan and Iran desk of the U.S. State Department, the report added.

The reported talks in Sweden and Switzerland could not be independently confirmed. But political observers were struck by the conciliatory tone of British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw towards Iran during a parliamentary debate on Wednesday.

I wonder what will come of this. If the reports are in fact true, I think it’s just the preliminary work to something official to go before the UN.

But the source is an iranian government website???? And they are saying that its a secret meeting?? Doesn't jive. Perhaps if we see an ensuing clamp down on the site or on Rafsanjani, in retaliation for 'leaking' this stuff, then it might be more credible.

The MKO is terrorist organization, responsible for killing and kidnapping of American citizens in the 1970s. In the 1979 revolution it played a key role and hence it was accepted into the government. Then a rift took place between the Fundamentalists (Islamic Republic party, currently control Iran) and the Marxists (MKO). SO in 1982 the MKO tried to take power by forced. They conducted a terror campaign against Iranian citizens killing many people. Currently they are in the custody of the US, and have not been returned to Iran to receive any penalties for what they have done to Iranians.
