I read somewhere the other day that when a potential buyer here in the UK views a house, whether or not is has a spirit present is quite a big factor in deciding whether or not to go for it. This report (i'll try and dig it out) was made from estate agents reports and they said it can instantly put people off buying the place, which is fair enough i guess.

I'm wondering whether someone who is into the paranormal would buy a place like this though? I mean theres one thing being interested in spirits, but it's another thing living with one. Yet i'm sure there is a market for this sort of thing? I would have thought if an agent knew a house was haunted, if they advertised it as such they'd be unindated with buyers looking for something that bit different.

Any opinions? Has anyone ever moved into a house here KNOWING that it's haunted?

When i moved to my current house my parents did not know that it was haunted. My [parents have told me that after living there for a few days everything started to go strange. These occurances still happen!

At night the lights will switch themselves on and off in the bathroom and we can hear the cord being pulled, but there is no-body there!

My uncle, who is a plumber will not work at the house alone because he saw an apparation of a ghosts and all his tools started to go missing. It was none of us and we know this because only mhim and I were in the house at the time!

A year or two ago the apparition appeared again when I was getting ready for school. It came in through the door and walked right through a wall!

Just last month, when I was watching Most haunted, I was the only person down-stairs at the time, a flower pot levitrated for a few seconds, it was placed on the ground and then the TV started to change channels and it then turned itself off!

If I get the oppurtunity to move into a haunted house, I will go for it!

Here is a very good link with statistics and quotes concerning purchasing a haunted house, and how people feel about it, and what has helped them form said opinions.

A recent poll commissioned by Lloyds TSB also found that a fifth of the 2,000 homebuyers sampled would only contemplate buying a house in which things went bump in the night if an exorcism or "new-age cleansing" took place.

Even knowing that a person had died of natural causes in a house put off 39 per cent of buyers, while a cemetery next door would make 47 per cent think twice.

Jon Pain, the author of the report, said it showed that since Most Haunted - in which a team seeks out ghosts in places across the British Isles - started two years ago, public awareness of "spooks and superstitions" had grown steadily. Another series of the show is scheduled for November.

You are most welcome.

I found that article to be very interesting. I think a person would find it interesting from a psychological standpoint even if you don't believe in spirits or ghosts.

Do you have any idea where the most haunted homes are?

I would most probably buy a home if i knew it was haunted. I lived a bit of my life in a haunted house and thankfully there were no real violent disturbances there. Mostly things being moved and occasional cold spots. I would have to research heavyly into the background ot the house before i was going to purchase it. True I wouldn't mind living in a haunted house ..but dealing with a violent one isn't something i would look forward to. And haven't you noticed it seems that the most violents ones are the ones most active. One thing is for sure hauntign a house takes energy. where the spirits get that is another mystery.
