What is with Submissions?

Topic started on 30-10-2005 @ 06:10 PM by shots

When I go to check and vote on Submissions I get nothing.

Is this just me or is it happening to others as well?

Thanks

Yes that is the very same I am getting. There for a minute I thought I was having computer problems with my browser and I even did a system restore to double check before asking. I guess no one is submitting any stories.

Yup.

There is currently one submission.

P.S. - Send in your own if it bothers you so much.

One thing I've noticed a lot of lately are news articles going straight to published--no voting or anything, the article has maybe 8 views, no replies, and it's up and running. I seem to recall someone saying something about it being about the members who submit it being "experts" and the article doesn't need to be voted up, but I don't remember the exact details.

Experts have the power to have their articles straight to "publication," as it were.

That's what I thought it was. I dunno...it's not my call of course, but I'm not sure if I'm that crazy about it. I mean, I understand they post enough to ensure that they know what makes a good article, but I like the idea of being able to vote on the submissions. I'm not much of a news junkie, so most of the time I finally find something that's worth putting up it's already been up, submitted, and gone through two or three pages worth of posts. Voting is about the only way I have a chance to "contribute" to the news section.

It isn't normally something I've noticed, but it seems lately that virtually every other news article is straight to "publication". Kinda takes the fun out of watching the news threads.

Well its not the issue about the experts being upgraded straight away Mccory, I think this issue is more of encouraging members like yourself to submit articles to vote on. Experts have done their time in submssion land and they need 100 articles approved by the voting system before it becomes automatic. By then the expert knows the ropes and should continue as they do now, to post great articles of high quality.

The voting system gives the contributers time to learn the ropes, learn what members want and what gets voted up and is of interest. The expert by then should be familiar with all of that. Only someone who is keen and eager would sumit 100 articles to go through the tedious submission process.

So what you could ask for is that more people summit articles to vote on.

Because of my job, I don't feel right posting anything that would appear on
atsnn. There is somewhat of a conflict of interest there..
So I don't submit at all..
I DO however, vote often..and sometimes add my comments to the stories..
Tough way to get points...LOL
