You guys have got to be kidding me. The house isnt haunted, never was. it has been occupied continuosly since the lutzes left, by continuously, i
mean it has never been abandoned for any period of time although has had new owners. The lutzes did not "abandon" and leave everything
behind...they came back and got there stuff..how do i know this? i grew up on ocean avenue and saw them as a kid doing this. the only sad thing is
that the family was murdered..i was 5 at the time, and our town continually gets harrased by rude people who beleive this crock of s&@t.
Please stop all your "investigations" and how some of us people "never believe the truth". Im telling you the truth because i grew up with it and
saw it. THE HOUSE IS NOT POSSESED BY DEMONS!!! Jesus, we used to play ice hockey right behind the boathouse. Just let the poor family rest in
peace and let the good residents of Amityville have some too. Find a new hobby. ITS NOT REAL!!

Yeah. The Amityville hoax was debunked a while back, but it caused such a big stir in the media people refuse to accept that the house was never
haunted. The inhabitants of the house were just a little crazed because of the fact that people were murdered there and that it would be very
believable that there were poltergeists haunting the location.
However, I've read in several non-fiction ghost books that the Amityville was a hoax. I think of it more as a legend that can be interpreted however
you like.

The focus of the amityville case should probably be on the multiple murders themselves more then anything.
I'm thinking on reopening this case here in the thicket.I have a few angles i was working on long ago when i first started working on this case.I'm
not promising anything as it seems my time for new projects(aswell as older ones) is getting slimmer by the day.

ok to stop this stupid rumor about the amityville horror my dad had a friend who used to do drugs during and before the amityville horror had taken
place and this guy happened to owe him money and guess what he lived in that very same house and let me point out this happened an hour before so he
goes back to his house for the money and doesnt realise his family is home so what does he do he kills them all I hope this clears things up and those
two kids are his younger brothers. i think those are his brothers

Allow me to really set the record straight.
Marc was my best friend.
Butch killed everyone.
There is nothing wrong with the house.
The "kid" in that fake photo looks nothing like Marc or John.
I'm still trying to figure out what door that is suppose to be. On the second floor, the way the rail is... you have behind that rail the parents
room... then a bathroom, then Allison's... then Marc/John's... that picture makes no sense at all. Been there... slept there... and there is
nothing wrong there!!!!

From the distance that the photo was taken, it does appear to be one of the boys. When I zoomed in on the picture, I saw something completly
different. It appears to be somebody wearing glasses and it actually looks like and older person, not a child.
I dont think the picture was meant to be a hoax. I think it was just somebody there that poked there head out and nobody knew they were caught on
film.

Saw a program on tv last night about it. It had the neighbour who was friends with the kids that were murdered. He said on the program that the red
room was a small room in the basement and the dad one day came down and told them it was gonna be their toy closet and gave them some paint and let
them paint it. just happened to be red paint nothing dodgy about the red room... Although a lot of other things seem strange about the house...

On crimelibrary.com it say this...
"He quietly pushed aside the door to their room and momentarily observed them as they slept, unaware of the horror at the foot of their bed. Then,
without hesitation, Butch raised the rifle to his shoulder and pulled the trigger, the first of 8 fatal shots he would fire that night. This first
shot ripped into his father’s back, tearing through his kidney and exiting through his chest. Butch fired another round, again hitting his father
in the back. This shot pierced the base of Ronald, Sr.’s spine, and lodged in his neck.
Louise DeFeo, victim
By now, Louise DeFeo had roused herself, and had barely a few seconds to react before her son began to fire upon her. Butch aimed the weapon at his
mother as she lay prone on her bed, and fired two shots into her body. The bullets shattered her rib cage and collapsed her right lung. Both bodies
now lay silently in fresh pools of their own blood.
Despite the distinct snap of each rifle shot, no one else stirred in the house. Butch quickly surveyed the destruction he had wrought, before
resuming his massacre of the innocent. His two young brothers, John and Mark, would be the next victims of Butch’s murderous sense of
self-righteousness and rage.
Mark & John Mathew DeFeo, victims
He entered the bedroom the two boys shared and stood between their two beds. Standing directly above his two helpless brothers, Butch fired one shot
into each of the boys as they lay sleeping. The bullets tore through their young bodies, ravaging their internal organs, laying waste to the lives
that lay ahead of them. Mark lay motionless, while John, whose spinal cord had been severed by his brother’s heartless attack, twitched
spasmodically for a few moments after the shooting. Again, the shots had not roused the only remaining members of the DeFeo family, and Butch skulked
unchallenged to the bedroom his sisters Dawn and Allison shared. Dawn was the closest in age to Butch, while Allison was in grade school with John
and Mark.
Allison & Dawn DeFeo, victims
As Butch entered the room, Allison stirred and looked up just as he lowered the rifle to her face and pulled the trigger. His youngest sister was
murdered instantly. Butch aimed his weapon at Dawn’s head as well, literally blowing the left side of her face off."
John, who is the one who most resembles the boy in the picture, is also the only one who didn't die instantly... bit of a coinsidence???
Mark lay motionless, while John, whose spinal cord had been severed by his brother’s heartless attack, twitched spasmodically for a few moments
after the shooting.
just me that thinks thats strang????

Well, im sure you all know of Ed and Lorraine Warren (very well respected) in the field of demonology . They studied the case and here is what they
found. I know that the link was posted earlier in this thread but it wasn't working so here it is again.

Sorry, but I take anything the Warrens say with a pinch of salt.
I am still suprised people think it was a legitimate haunting even though the Lutz's and William Weber made up the story, and admitted as such later
on down the line.
The fact is that this was all manufactured to make money quick (the Lutz's couldn't actually afford the payments on their 'dream home'). George
Lutz was suing left and right after he 'trademarked' The Amityville Horror name. How does this even make it a credible story?

Well heres the thing. Theres kinda a few parts to this story.First off the defeo murders. Its been a few years now since i was kinda studying this
whole thing.
The murders would have to be the first party of this story. Now im not sure but i think it was after the murders that the warrens went in and did
their"investigation".
Now apparently the warrens were offering special access to more photos from the shoot if you were to pay them money or something. But anyways it may
have been before the warrens or after the warrens came onto the scene that the lutz came and made these stories.
But there is alot more to this story that alot of people dopnt know. or atleast details that have something to do with the amityville but not
really.Like there is more cases of poltergiests and "hauntings" in the immediate area such as the location of te house or girl rather involved in
inspiring the poltergiest movie, not that im really sure but yeah.
The area in which amityville takes place(i forget the area) was host to a number of slaughterings which happened to the native american people in the
area much longer before these events.Where the natives were driven out of the area and slaughtered in order for others to take the land.
Much speculation about the defeo murders comes from perhaps an idea that the son who killed everyone may have been possessed.I think the defeos built
the house or were one of the first families there im not sure. but yeah. There are alot of different parts to this story not just the lutz supposed
fairy tale.

I think the boys were shot in the backs it was only the girls that were shot in the head. Thing is that "boy" is actually in the door way of the
younger sisters bedroom. Could be mistaken for a boy because its such a dark pic...? If this is the case then yes Allison (the younger sis) WAS shot
in the head so its freaky that you say that...

My post isnt really about the pic persay. I have a magazine with the orginal interview of this family. Think it's worth anything to collectors? I,m
not sure if its the first interview. It could be. It has a picture of the house above the article.

Am new here. Nice to meet you all. I definitely get the willies when I think of this house. I read the book and I remember being utterly terrified.
I was going through my "satanic ritual abuse" phase where I was reading everything I could about demons, evil spirits, the devil, etc.
I think Snopes has some good points, but it's not enough for me to say that this house is not haunted.
I also follow the Warrens' work from time to time and have never found them to be dubious.
