Aircraft fuel

What's the deal with it.

I would imagine to power cessna you could use some crude gazoline.

I was just wondering, apart from airport ground, what other places have aircraft grade fuel?

Also in the airports, they either keep it underground or in tankers right?

Airports stair tracks, do you need a key to star the ignition or do you just hop in, push a button and of you went? Is there a security or protection of some sort?

What type of operation do you have in mind anyways?

The differance in aircraft fuel is that it is VERY high Octane level or whatever the hell you call it. Also i believe that you have to have a key for stair tracks, but it is a generic key not like a car key.

avgas for a cessna is just very high octane gasoline. Jets on the other hand use fuel very similar to kerosene. When ever I got refueled they brought it out in a truck. Oh yeah, you do need the keys to get in your plane I have no idea about the stairs...what would anybody want with them anyway?

Avgas has higher octane levels, and its PPM (particle's per million) is far lower than car gas, making it a cleaner but much more powerfull fuel then regular fuel, JetA1 fuel, powers jets, turbine props and helos, + the new diesel aircraft, is basicly kerosene



car racetracks, performace shops, etc..., you can tell when a car is burning Avgas, cause it smells funny and makes your eyes water and feel like they are burning



at small airports in tanker trucks, you call the tower and request fuel, the truck comes to your plane and fills you up, at the big airports its underground, they don't build a big enough truck that can haul the amount of fuel a jumbo jet can hold. A 747-400 can hold over 57000 gallons of fuel


the ones built on the back of pickup trucks need keys, the ones built on the back of a "MULE" is pushbutton, A Mule is the square boxy looking truck, that you see towing jets around the airport

What are you planing to do Freeman?, or do you just have an interest in aviation?

I think that if freeman is planning something, that he wont tell us. Not with all the governmental presense on the board as of late.

I thought the only security measure is a padlocked chain connect the plane to the ground.

And the same for all small planes? And even privet jets like
citation and lear jet and beach jet etc?

Pearly tell me about small jets, they have built in, retractable stairs rack right? Do you need a key to open the door from the outside? And i hope there aren't any lock&key things inside the cockpit?

the only aircraft don't need keys are the jumbo jets and military jets, all others you need keys to get into. if you ever see a padlocked chained aircraft, its because the owner did not make the payments on it, and the people who financed it are in the process of reposesing the aircraft, as for security at airports since 9/11 you can't get on to the tarmaq without valid airport employment ID, or a valid pilots license+plus ID, and depending on the terorist threat level and what airport you are at chances are you will be escorted to your aircraft. the oly thing that really hasn't changed since 9/11 is the way customs treats large private jet, like the challengers, gulfstreams, or the global express's, customs just don't go near them, simply because the people that ride in them are loaded beyond your dreams, and they don't touch the crew either

you need a key which either unlocks the door or a access panel that opens the door for you, as for stairs in the jets themselves, depends on the size of the jet, the small ones have a small step that pulls out from under the door, the medium sized jets the door opens downward and the stairs are on the back of the door, the big ones they have stairs but they are electric, and unfold at the push of a button, you have to remember that private jets exist so the owner of the jet can go almost anywhere, the jet has to be self sustaining, meaning that it doesn't need anything at the airports it lands at other than fuel

Freeman- Air Stairs require a key but they are standard all across the airport, As in one key will work for all the stairs there. Hope this helps you do whatever your planning.
