I'm not one to go an a rant but I've had enough of these adds for meeting a woman online. I understand people use these services and thats fine, but just about every website I go to has an add to meet girls. Enough is enough! I go to download media I see an add. I go hotmail I see an add. I want to play a flash game I get an add. They are everywhere! Quit trying to sell me sex, I've got a wife and kids. :bash:
I must see these adds dozens of times a day.
Ever get a popup that looks like am instant messenger from a girl?
That's all I need when my wife and I are looking for something online, thanks
.

You need to spend a few hours doing some house cleaning inside your machine so that you don't get these intrusions on your screen.

Step One: Get Mozilla Firefox and install the Adblock Extention plus Flashblock Extention
Step Two: Get Spybot S&D and run the program so that spy-ware is gone.
Step Three: Get Ad-Aware and run the program to clean out more nasties.
Step Four: Get a good firewall, set it up and maintain it properly.
Step Five: Install some ani-virus software and keep that up to date.

There is no reason to ever have a pop-up show on your screen, ever......
It all comes down to a little system maintenance, and to me, it sounds like you've gotten a little lazy in keeping a clean machine.

I hope this helps, if you have any questions, feel free to ask. If I don't know the answer, I'm sure other members will chime in or we can find a solution on the net.
Good luck...............

Thanks for the advice.

The only thing you listed that I haven't done is install the adblock extension. My machine is new probably a month old. My last system was around 6 years old and it was my first computer. I had to learn maintenance the hard way

I agree with you, Umbrax. I've got a wife whose first language is not English and it isn't that hard for her to get the wrong end of the stick. Fortunately the pop-up type ads only occur when we're online on public computers, not at the office. Even so, it bugs me having to explain it to her, time out of my life trying not to treat my partner as a child when we could have been having fun, or something wholesome and good for you.

That must be frustrating HowlrunnerIV. I've been around people who are not that good with English. I can see the difficulty in trying to explain the cleavage popping up.

Your web browser is Firefox right?????

Click "Tools" at the top of the page.
Click "Options" at the bottom of the drop down menu.
Click "Web Features" on the left side of the Options dialog box.

Make sure you have "Block Popup Windows" checked off.....

Drop a post back to this thread if you get the problem fixed.....
Or if you don't...

selecting the pop-up blocker box doesn't do it for me.

I use some software that gets interference from that utility. Which is a pain becasue I telecommute a lot.

Of course, I could turn it on after I'm done working . . . but then I couldn't play at the same time, etc.

And I'd have to be a non-lazy person.
