as i'm new i'm not gonna shout out too much. Ghostsoldier - you seem to be on the pulse and I know your view is realistic. Grey Fox work substantially undercover enough to perform what NO other military unit can. The information that is advertised is basic and does'nt in any way jeopardise their work. They do work closely with SAS and MI6 and are jointly responsible for the capture of many, including Sadaam. It was however an international effort and without the help of at least 4 countries would not have happened yet.

on a lighter note - www.unitfoxhound.com...

Grey Fox is a secretive group specializes in signal intelligence and human intelligence. members usually do not know what other members are doing as to not compromise if a member is capture. it is designed to infiltrate and gather intel. Grey Fox is a new name for the group which use to be call ISA which stands for Intelligence Support Activity back in the 1980's, back further its predecessor was FOG which stands for Foreign Operating Group. When it was the ISA, it even had a cover name to deceive those who do not need to know, the name was Tactical Concept Group. It is very good at what it does, it even warn the U.S. government about possible attack on the Marine barracks back in Lebanon but sadly no one listen to them because the politicians are ignorant and even the top brass don't listen to them because they hate special forces. The ISA was even involve in the Iran hostage crisis which they infiltrated and provided information as to where the hostages were and where the guards were. The CIA wanted to either destroy or takeover the ISA because it was envious of its capabilites. So the name Grey Fox is just a new name for the secretive unit. very classified unit. not much well known. even if you knew the name you dont know its capabilities or its location or who is in it.

i would really doubt that this thing even exists.

Its openly recognized as existing. 'Delta Force' doesn't technically exist, yet eveyone recognizes that it does.

even if it was just snatch and grab operations, the SEALs can do everything

Gray fox is an intelligence group also. The Army doesn't use seals, nor the airforce nor the marines not the CIA which has its own paramilitary groups. The seals are certainly not the end all and be all of special operations.

People asking why the military would acknowledge them if they are so secret, maybe you are missing the point.
Its not the name thats important to keep secret, its the work that they are doing.
As long as people think they are doing something great like capturing Sadam, they wont mind if these things exist or what they are called.

As was maybe correctly pointed out by someone, you dont need new special units to do the jobs of ones you already have.
These guys will be doing something very specialised and comparmentalised, i would guess.

was a nice movie too

anyways...grey fox may be a new super secret group

but have you read about the origins of the original ones and why ?

william coopers' ," behold a pale horse" , sure shed some light on the secret history of our NSA , CIA and some things I had never heard of

perso.wanadoo.fr...

it was more informative , than , bamfords "puzzle palace"

www.amazon.com...=pd_sxp_f/102-2077923-3256947?v=glance&s=books

ever read coopers book ?

Isn't there a group called "The Virginia Boys" too?

I thought I remembered reading something about them, but since they're so secret, it was all just theory.

Grey Fox... heh, I just think that name is funny. In Metal Gear, there are several rankings in the secret group Fox Hound. Grey Fox was the highest level attainable. Sort of like the captians of the group, or the varsity team so to speak.

Regardless, one thing is for certain. These guys would wipe the floor with my butt in a fight.

To my understanding Gray Fox is a very clandestine force consisting of hand picked SEALS, Delta Force, and Green Berets. They go in and out, completing one objective while maintaining the utmost security. Barely anyone knows anything about them, but at times they gain intelligence over time by blending into their surroundings.

The most secret unit's in the world do not have "hollywood" call signs. Instead they have serial numbers.

example: Z11D1

I can tell ya now that Grey Fox is the front name for 5 levels of compartmentalization that hides the true group.

trust me on this one

Ok, first off "stress cards". I really don't know the protocol for other units, but here in the US, to quit training, all you have to do is essentially say to any instructor you can't take any more. As in most special operations training (BUD/S, Q-Course, etc), all you have to say is, "I quit". Once that is said, you're returned to the original unit you left from to attend training, no questions asked, though, I know nowadays, potential SEALs are handed over to a psychologist for a complete workup to see if this is what they really wish to do, and without shame.

Task Force 20: From what I've been able to put together from my sources, is a unit tasked with hunting down bin-Laden and his command infrastructure in Afghanistan. It was composed of Delta (CAG), DevGroup (SEAL Tm 6) and CIA Special Activities Division and, more than likely selected units from Britain. SAD is comprised of CIA case officers within the DO with usually prior military intelligence and/or special operations experience.

Task Force 121: Basically the same as TF 20, but augmented with Poland's GROM and very likely SAS, but operational in the Iraqi theater to hunt down Hussein and his command.

Task Force 145: I would assume to be operating in much the same fashion as TF's 20 & 121, but now tasked with intelligence and direct action operations against the terrorist/insurgent forces inside Iraq.

Grey Fox: If the news stories are to be believed, and Grey Fox is now what was formerly called ISA (Intelligence Support Activity), they are not really military, yet not really an intelligence community entity. Up until recently, I had only ever heard the term, "Grey Fox" while reading a book written by a CIA SAD officer who was first in Afghanistan. ISA, though, from what I know was created during the 80's within the Pentagon to handle intelligence collection capabilities to augment counterterrorist operations, due to CIA's slow collection capabilities, sometimes operating independently, other times alongside these units. Operators would have more than likely be culled from within military intelligence and "black" special operations units and then trained in advanced intelligence collection (tech, black bag, etc). Though, based at the time, out of the Pentagon, they operated under strict NSC or JCS guidelines. Overall, it was largely a US Army organization.

Don't quote me on any of this, though.

•Grey Fox, a deep-cover organization based at Fort Belvoir in Northern Virginia. Members specialize in spying and intercepting communications. They carry hardware that can tap into electronic-eavesdropping satellites and that can splice fiber-optic cables.
Grey Fox maintains a fleet of aircraft at Baltimore-Washington International Airport. On occasion, members enter countries on "non-official cover" using assumed identities.
Created principally to combat international drug smugglers, Grey Fox has turned out to be the perfect unit for Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld's demand for "actionable intelligence" to kill or capture al Qaeda operatives and other terrorists.
The Army once maintained Grey Fox, but after September 11 the Pentagon shifted direct control to Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) at Fort Bragg, N.C. Ultimately, Grey Fox reports to U.S. Special Operations Command in Tampa, Fla.
Although officials still refer to the intelligence unit as Grey Fox, a defense source said its code name was changed during the war on terrorism. The source asked that the new designation not be reported. Grey Fox has operated under a number of different code words. In the early 1990s, for example, it was called "Capacity Gear."

I think the name "Grey Fox" is just something someone made up for fun. The TF in Iraq and Afghanistan information is correct along with but not current since they change them on a regular basis and have other names such as TF Central and TF South etc. We use to make up names for our operation groups because we were bored and played around with them to give disinformation. Sometimes we went by "Warpigs" and "Inquisitors". They were all to give people something to stew about and never was on paper anywhere but can be found on e-mails and such which people will take the wrong way when snooping.
Never think a name means anything more than a person wanting to play spy. The US Army does not have a super secret HUMINT group like that. That is something the movies spawn. "Skills" is the closest with a few other units but nothing like what is described since Seals don't "spy". That also is Hollywood.

Grey Fox is real. "If it were operating" around you...you'd know it by people who came to work where you work, asked all the "right questions" of you, that only you'd know the answers to.

They'd also already have been doing surveillance around the home where you live, posing as people who live in the same neighborhood, possibly trying to become your closest "friends".

Oh yeah...they have dedicated satellites that watch your vehicles...so even if you get out of physical surveillance by the "good old neighbors that are your friends"...they watch where you go...if they don't already have a tracking device on your vehicle.

Think smart, use your brain, and don't do anything that would interest them.

Boring people don't "disapear mysteriously" like they like to do so often.

Talking about things on here is one thing, doing them is a totally different thing.

That has to be the craziest thing I have ever heard. Like people getting upset about the surviellance bill because they think people would care what they are talking about on the phone. If you are not doing anything to threaten national security then you don't have to worry. It's to watch terrorist not soccer moms.

if you go to wikipedia and read their articles on ISA and Gray Fox, you will get all of the facts, but during the Iran Hostage Crisis ISA/Gray Fox was supposed to go in with Delta Force (1st SFOD-D (A)) and DEVGRU (SEAL team VI, and pretty much the Navy's Delta Force) During Operation Eagle Claw, land in specially equipped C-130 cargo planes with rockets on the landing gear, land in a soccer stadium across the street from the embassy, get our guys and haul ass out of there, but back then Gray Fox was just called FOG (Foreign Operating Group), and to preserve security, they change names all the time, Their HQ is in Arlington, VA in a building falsely labeled "Tactical Concept Activity". According to the Pentagon, they do not exist. The unit was created in 1979 under the command of Colonel Jerry King, and are believed to be loosely connected to Delta Force, and there is a reference to them in the third level of the video game BLACK in an intel document labeled "Details of Intelligence Support Activity (1981). A bit of advice for any secret units out there....Don`t have a name.
It makes it a whole lot harder for folks to speculate on your unit.
Just an Idea.
