Abu Musab al-Zarqawi released statements Tuesday that the fight in Iraq has nothing to do with chasing out an occupier or the borders of a nation. It’s about restoring Islamic law and creating an Islamic state.

I have been saying this all along; the terrorists have been admitting this all along. But some armchair quarterbacks still cant seem to get it and blame everything on everybody they personally don’t like (the west).

Story here

Baghdad, 18 Oct. (AKI) - Al-Qaeda in Iraq, the terror group led by Jordanian militant Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, has released a new statement in which it explains the reasons for its terror campaign and states that they are not fighting the US occupation of Iraq, but to create "an Islamic state which is part of the caliphate and the Muslim territory."

The message from the terror group appeared on the Internet on Tuesday, just a few days ahead of a visit to Baghdad by the secretary general of the Arab League, Amr Moussa. "The secretary of the Arab League has been tasked with going to Iraq to convince the Sunnis to enter the political game so as to stop the Jihad [holy war] in the Sunni areas. With the excuse of national interest, they are trying to save the Americans," the statement says.

The terror group then goes on to reveal its real objectives, saying: "We are not fighting to chase out the occupier or to save national unity and keep the borders outlined by the infidels intact," the statement continues. "We are fighting because it is a religious duty to do it, just as it is a duty to take the Sharia [Islamic law] to the government and create an Islamic state…”

That is all well and good and any one following this war/conflict would/should know that the insurgents are not fighting for Iraq. If Islamic Law is so important to this coward then he should go back to Jordan and raise war there.

Good article by the way, I am going to try and find more info on these statements.

Some people are so gullible. This statement is from who? Who? Al-Zarqawi???

The same guy who has been "caught" at least 4 times and "killed" twice???

This is too funny. Skippy, come on, you can do better...

Do you have a link to where it was posted so that we can determine the reliability of the source???

Do you know how it was determined that Zarqawi was made head of Al Qada in Iraq????

That's not really news. Of course that's what Zarqawi and most of the other foreign fighters entering into Iraq are up too. But the foreign fighters only make up a small percentage of the Iraqi insurgency. Most of the insurgents in Iraq are Iraqis. Primarily Sunni's who did well under Saddam and don't want to give up what ever power they had without a fight.

Has anyone in Iraq seen him yet?
Can the Pentagon confirm Al-Zarqawi exists yet?

Funny how Zarqawi used to talk about creating civil war in Iraq, then when the dots started getting joined and people started to realise that a civil war would be the only way for the Coalition to become peace keepers rather than occupiers and that Zarqawi has the same goals, that he's now talking about wanting an entire Islamic region.

Sounds like that will take a few years, better hang around a bit longer!

yep we have to stay, remember wat happened after Afghanistan wen we left to the Afghans to deal with their own problems, way too busy to get rid of the Afghan Arabs who overstayed their welcome and started making camps and stuff. the Pentagon did confirm the assistance of Zarqawi with labtop, and with captured of his lieutenants. his posts on Islamic websites dat also post videos and audios of Osama. dats as good as it can get.
