Eight British soldiers killed during ambushes in Iraq were the victims of a highly sophisticated bomb first used by the IRA, The Independent on Sunday can reveal.

The soldiers, who were targeted by insurgents as they travelled through the country, died after being attacked with bombs triggered by infra-red beams. The bombs were developed by the IRA using technology passed on by the security services in a botched "sting" operation more than a decade ago.

This contradicts the British government's claims that Iran's Revolutionary Guard is helping Shia insurgents to make the devices.

The Independent on Sunday can also reveal that the bombs and the firing devices used to kill the soldiers, as well as two private security guards, were initially created by the UK security services as part of a counter-terrorism strategy at the height of the troubles in the early 1990s.

Continued.....

Is it that the IRA, and British security services are blowing up British soldiers in Iraq?

It kind of goes against the claims that foreigners are doing it.

Oh wait! The Brits are foreigners......

As Mr. Spock said:

Mr. Spock from The Enterprise Incident

Military secrets are the most fleeting of all.

I don't read anything into this.

If it's to perpetuate a war that is an integral aspect of a few goverments overbearing ideology, then yes, soldiers will kill thier own; highly trained and manipulated soldiers have no remorse when killing children, expect no different here. You are in the position to believe that man is not able to kill his fellow man for certain ends; every end requires a consequental risk.

We cannot afford another war nor do we have the supplies nor men for another war.
The one right now is stretching us.
Tony will need to get out ASAP if he wants a military at all left.

You could not afford this initial war, but it was conceded by threat of WMD's that could be delivered to England within 45 minutes. Though this turned out to be a blatant lie, the war still presses on under the guise of quelling terrorism, which, mind you, has sprung up a good 150 percent in Iraq, if consider the state of Iraq.

The only thing you can afford is to educate yourself into a mentatility that is purely objective and rational.

Well if it was england (Its theUK) then we would have had more reason.
It was actually capable of hitting our troops in cyprus I believe was the exact claim.

No. If you read through the article you linked to, it does say

"We are seeing technology in Iraq today that it took the IRA 20 years to develop,"

And also

The technology came from the security forces, but the IRA always shared its equipment and expertise with Farc guerrillas in Colombia, the Basque separatists, ETA and Palestinian groups. There is no doubt in my mind that the technology used to kill our troops in Basra is the same British technology from a decade ago.

The same technology used and passed along to others, is not the same as the British Killing the British.

It kind of goes against the claims that foreigners are doing it.

It kind of does not at all. That is your take on things.

Oh wait! The Brits are foreigners......

Yeah, and what of it? What is that supposed to mean? You are a foreigner to me, so what? it matters not. Jeeshhhhhhhhhhhh
