Hi all

I thought it would be fun to come up with Halloween poems - but with a little twist.

You must ONLY use the words provided on the magnetic Poetry Kit link labelled 'gothic'. The virtual equivalent of having one hand tied behind your back.

Here are mine - I apologise in advance for any cheesiness factor:

Waiting for Poe

Dark the candles
chain the house
bury the mirrors
for she will come tonight

On cold tomb I shiver
And make less breath
What is that?
It's only her ghost
in empty church lost

For Spike

I bite with silver teeth on neck
of angel velvet
Vampire, she moans in her nightmares
Take my breath
scratch/shiver/suck/sieze!
Who is this monster
that screams for me tonight?

Ode to a Goth Girl

You are
a vampire nightmare
bat breath bride with
dungeon tomb teeth

Is devil’s blood
black or crimson?
she says scratching her silver
nails on my neck

In the empty church
I take a candle
and ask if
angels bite

A glooming cloud is brideless,
A black candle in an empty coffin.
She rattles on with spiders,
As she licks at the slime on her chain.

My pc is too slow to run that shockwave

so couldnt make it any longer.

like velvet mists
the nightmare moans of her haunting cry
mirror my bloodless shivers
within our black and ghostly tomb

Suicide note:

Bury me by sunrise
less I bite her velvet neck
and suck the screaming blood of my bride
or make many more vampires
that come to haunt the gloomy nightmares

you scratch a spell on the coffin
and nail it down after
take a silver candle
is any breath in the mirror?
if so she only says
an empty grave

These are good! Keep them coming.

Any other poetry kit type things appreciated. I'm sure there are better ones out there. Personally it is a little hard to make good poems when you have to work with the same words.

Fun and frustrating at the same time. Like... well, like so many things in life.

They also have magnet categories like Shakespeare, Genius, Horse lover (!), and Innuendo.

You can actually go to the site you listed, and take words from the gothic, and then click on one of the other three "fridges" and keep adding words to your poems.

Thanks for the links and tips on the original site. I didn't know one could add words to the Gothic category. I think that might help extend it a bit more.

Good pick up poem btw -

I briefly took a look at the 'horse lover' category and came up with salacious phrases unsuitable for ATS. Then again, what else could you do with the words: mount, fast, wild, bare, gallop?

There are a few more categories on magneticpoetry.com: romantic, gardener, genius and sequel{?} I'm off to check that one out.

I wrote one about a certain sleek "arabian."

I got bogged down on the genius fridge. I wound up googling dictionaries instead of posting poetry!
