I think Columbus Day is nonsense. Columbus was a pirate who did NOT discover America.

I have a T-shirt I make a point to wear every Columbus Day. It has a picture of Native Americans holding guns, and it says "Homeland Security--Fighting Terrorism since 1492."

Don't forget the Vikings, they found America first. And the Indians were already here.

"What? I wasn't stealing officer, I found it! In a store... But I found it, like Columbus found America even though people were already there..."

I think there were explorers from the old world that reached the new world even before the Norse. Egyptians, Chinese, Africans, maybe Celts. And yes, Columbus Day is pretty lame...celebrate the man started the Atlantic slave trade...great. :shk:

I'm a bit offended seeing as how I'm part Cherokee...my ancestors were here first.

I'm willing to bet people just crossed the Bering Strait and worked their way down...that's what I've heard. Not a long shot really.

The rest of my ancestors on my mother's side came primarily from England.
