I wish people could just accept the fact that we die ... Does and ant goto heaven? Does an ant care? What about a tree? When you die, you die ...

I hope there is more to death than just nothing. Seem like an awful waste of 80ish years if you cant do anything afterwards.

I sincerely hope something positive awaits the living after death rather than just rotting away in the ground.

No current religion has its facts down. All you need to do is research their beliefs to find this out.

Near death experiences are the only hint of evidence towards some kind of afterlife. Though science concludes that what is seen is simply the misfirings of a dying brain or perhaps the brain's way of easing a living creature into death.

I'm hoping near death experiences are right and that something does happen, but I have no real answers to give.

I wonder this all the time. I can't handle the fact that there is nothing after death most of the time, as it's just a horrible thought. I guess that's why religions were invented, they give us hope and a reason to move forward. I know that if I knew for a fact there was no life after death, I'd just top myself.
I do wonder though why we are the only species on the planet that is aware of it's own mortality. Is it a gift or a curse?

I agree. But I believe it's also possible that our spirit is eternal.
If we are, then this may not be the first life we have lived. Eternity doesn't have an end, why should it logically have a beginning?
Following from this, there may be life after death, but if you're experiencing it, it doesn't necessarily follow that you will be aware of your previous existence.

I think/hope we've lived before and we'll live again, although not neccessarily on Earth. I believe it's a natural eternal cycle and no one is exempt. We're all in a state of progression.

I posted this earlier in the NDE thread. I believe in ghosts. I haven't always believed, but I've seen a sufficient amount of evidence to support my beliefs. With that being said, I believe there is an afterlife. I don't buy the whole 'heaven and hell' story. I believe our body acts as a shell and contains our 'spirit'. When the body becomes no longer useful, the shell is cracked and our 'spirit' is released. Where do we go from there? I'm not sure, but I know some of them remain/visit here on Earth. Good question, asala.

Of course there is life after death.......many have spoken of coming back from death.......even visiting hell and heaven......many have corrected their life according to what they saw.....

There is a great book which I have read and it talks about life after death and true occurances......it is a 2,000 year old teaching on life after death......

We believe that the spirit of a dead person walks the earth alone and afraid until it is welcomed back into the family.

The dead person has 2 shadows, a black shadow and a white shadow. Black is his flesh and white is his spirit.
When we bury a person we put a stick in the grave thats is seen outside and later we take out the stick to leave a hole for the spirit to emerge.

The spirit takes on the form of a catapillar and we look around the grave to find it crawling around lost. After a year we welcome the wandering spirit back into the family. The spirit posesses a family person and that person can communicate with it.

i don't really know what happens when someone or something dies, but there are things i have seen that tell me its possible that some people get stuck here in one form or another and some don't. it's gonna sound crazy but i see people from time to time that are transparant and they seem to want to comunicate with me or others that i know that have seen them. maybe an echo was left behind when they died or an impression was left. all i know is that since i was 14 i have been seeing them almost everywhere i have lived.

who knows, maybe it's just my mind playing tricks on me. all i can tell you is that it seems pretty real to me.

I think people that see other things are really lucky, even if they are just messed up in the head. Real life is incredibly boring. Seeing things beyond the norm is something that I would like to witness at least once. I'm 26 and have yet to see a darn thing.

I have no idea how to answer it.But I KNOW that religion and science seem to have teamed up to make sure we don't have anything to go on,which makes me believe that there must be something after death.
If there wasn't,why would there be so many influences to make you think there wasn't?.

Well i suppose if we knew what was after death.

And it was better than what we have here...

every time we could not handle things , we would start killing ourselfs..

So in a way maybe its best we dont know!!

I think about this a fair bit though try not to - it makes me to anxious and paranoid.
But basically i see it as a no win situation (not that i want to !). The thought of an afterlife seems to me to suggest that we go on forever. If life is eternal then at some point it has to become tedious, and the thought of looking forwards and never seeing and end will not settle right in my head (just as it can't comprehend that space goes on forever). But the thought of not existing, not feeling, thinking, being also scares me. I can't imagine it, it seems so surreal.

If that's true then it feels like such a waste doesn't it? Mind you, does everything have to have a reason or meaning? I hope so.
