Topic started on 6-10-2005 @ 11:26 AM by paperplane_uk

Apparently DARPA is looking into using arrays of large transducers along the side of vessels to produce large shockwaves to destroy incoming torpedos.

sounds like from a movie where a man with a guitar turns up the volume and strings the guitar and the whole room explodes., of course if it becomes a reality and the whole U.S. Navy have this defense, torps are obsolete now or the enemies have to make stronger torps. either way its somthing we can look forward to on this technology.

isnt the ` logical ` upshot of this going to be increased power and range untill a sub can kill another at 10 ooo m ?

a more plausible early spin off of tech like tis is ` anti diver defences `

its the whales and dophins i feel sorry for if this tech proves viable and enteres fleet useage

You wouldn't put a dolphin or a whale over a possible sailor that could be saved with this technology would you?
