The calander only went up to 2012. It doesn't mean the end of the world.

the end of the world has no set date. it is in the hands of our world leaders. it may end in a nuke war that makes the earth unliveable or some new bug that a goverment of this world has cooked up gets loose and kills off the human race but dont worry when it starts you could eat a bullet. i know im going out with a BOOM! so ask yourself is worrying really worth it. your going to die from it and it will happen when you least expect it.

Well, the truth is, the date doesn't matter. The end is near, if only because now more than ever there are more possibilites that edge towards our extinction. Global Warming, Nuclear War, violent leaders, crime at an all time high, planet resources dying out, asteroids - many more things, it's coming soon.

Personally, I can see the end at least starting before 2010. We don't need a Mayan calendar to tell us it's the end, you only have to look around.

Everybody has their own prediction for the end of the world. First it was 1900, then 1980, then 2000, then 2001, now 2012....its all just a load of crap

Yes there is a book on the cosmogenesis which occurs at 3:47pm
on that date Dec. 23, 2012. It apparently is based on the hypothesis that the sun as a quadropolar sphere rather that bipolar as our Earth, has a magnetic field delay in that it revolves
slowler than the sun itself and winds up like an immense magneto-
coil that every, (insert actual length of years here I don't offhand know the length of an age in perfect math) and releases in a massive wave that....who knows. The oddest prediction I've heard is that the Earth will stop rotating on its axis over 3 days as
it slows and stops then turns in the opposite direction.

That would be a definate signal for the end of humanity, but I think it will be more along the lines of super natural disasters and/or Divine intervention and/or Total World War.

I know,... perhaps the Mayans got fed up of keeping there calender up-to-date. Perhaps they thought one day, "Sod it, this sucks" and just chose a random date in the future for it to end and leave it up to there children to do the math.

There are so many possible reasons for the Mayan calender running out. Those who are scared by the date should get a grip of reality! It is still 2003, live life in the present, not the future!

Yeah, get off this rock by 2012, a comet is going to nail it and our all mighty government has not a clue on knocking it out of the sky.. I'm working on a vehicle that is going to accomodate it, yes, complete with inetersteller capacity as well a shielding, it's simple as hell, just the egg heads teaching physics have not a clue about what I do because they are too busy launching balloon theory propulsion vehicles into space.

Will wave bye bye as I watch it happen, or may fix it for you jerks, but am opting for the former after seeing the binladens of the world still holding power.

What will happen will happen. And if it is some big ass comet, than the gov will probably try to stop it in some way. Personally, I think it will just be an end of the world as we know it, I think that the changes willl all be for the better. I have faith.
