Iran denies shift in India ties.

Exactly!! I had seen the same in papers over here and was quite perplexed at what NR was getting at..

Note that India, has not "sold-out" Iran here..

Maybe it was a very clever move by India, as they needed to show some adherence to the US/west if they(India) were to gain quick access to the NSG..
India, along with oil, needs that nuclear fuel..

Moreover the Indians may have precalculated that any resolution pointing to military action against Iran would anyways be shot down by more than one permanent member at the UNSC..

The maximum damage Iran may face at the UNSC is severe sanctions, and honestly if Iran is adamant on proving that it can go on just fine on its own, it should not fear economic sanctions, for surviving and developing/growing during sanctions is the real sign of a nation with promise..

We (India) did it for 4 years after we went nuclear in 98..

So NR, India has no hard feelings towards Iran, IMO we just think you need to show your mettle as a self-sufficient state..

Right on mate!!
Even though India has more than twice as many muslims as Iran does, you can go ahead and say that "muslims" are a legitimate target for Oil...

India is at the forefront of developing an entirely new nuclear technology -- reactors that use thorium, as opposed to uranium. This new reactor only requires uranium as a 'seed' to start the reaction and is supposedly bounds safer and far more effeciaint than uranium reactors. India has the largest thorium deposits in the world and in 20-25 years plans to largely be self-sufficiant in energy.

I wasn't aware that thorium was more efficient in reactors than uranium. I do know that nuclear weapons weapon based on thorium need far more fissile material than U-235 or P-239 based weapons. The French are believed to have detonated a thorium based weapon, with the fissile element weighing about half a ton. Far more than the 5kg of P-239 needed.
