Hellmut thanks for keeping with the news on this conflict, I am very surprise that something like that is not getting more coverage . . .

Taking into consideration that oil is involve in this conflict. . .

I knew China was doing business in Africa . . . but I thought that the Niger Vally oil extraction was run by American base oil companies.

I'm quite shocked the platforms aren't defended more tactfully. A resource such as oil, I would have presumed would have been defended to the teeth, especially in this "war on oil" scenario. I thought every source would be held.

I am aware that six officials were disarmed, I just thought the amount of resistance would be higher?

That is truth we all know that when conflicts arise and Oil is involve it has a cause and effect . . .and we all can fill that effect at the pump.

Italian oil facility shut down

06/11/2006

Armed protesters have overrun and shut down an oil facility run by Italian oil firm Agip in the latest violence to hit Africa's biggest crude producer, says a government official. A senior official from the local state environment department said the protesters invaded the Tebidaba oil pumping station ran by Agip in southern Bayelsa State and forced workers to shut it down.

On Friday, the United States Consulate in Nigeria's main city, Lagos, issued an email circular saying militants were planning a major new wave of attacks and kidnappings for the next few days that could include up to 20 simultaneous bombings across the oil-rich delta region.

Could a bunch of Nigerian militants in speedboats bring about a U.S. recession? Blowing up facilities and taking hostages, they are wreaking havoc on the oil production of America's fifth-largest supplier. Deep in the Niger-delta swamps, the author meets the nightmarish result of four decades of corruption.

BBC: Attack on Nigerian leader's house

16 May 2007

Militants have attacked the country residence of the Vice-President-elect Goodluck Jonathan, in the oil-rich Niger Delta in a dawn speedboat attack.

The attackers also blew up a nearby police station. Two policemen died in the raid.

No group has claimed responsibility so far for the attack. Mr Jonathan was not in the house at the time, say sources.

Very lucky for Mr. Goodluck Jonathan that he wasn't in the house at the time.

News24: Oil terminal attack repelled

12/11/2007

Troops repelled an armed attack on one of Nigeria's largest oil export terminals on Monday, industry sources and officials said.

It was the third raid on a major oil facility in Africa's largest producer since the arrest of a militant leader in September, but exports from the company's 400 000 barrel-per-day Qua Iboe terminal were not affected.

"Eight boats of militants armed with machine guns took part in the attack," one industry source said.

Well get the off the oil economy.

Get pure electrical energy.

CT says it exists for some people. The banksters.

You think UFOs use oil based energy?

The FOO might have used propane though.

And natural gas is gleaned for Helium so oil wells are a must for the future.

No hope is there.

Can't really blame them for wanting a share of the oil revenues. I can understand why they're angry. This is the result of ripping off the people for too long.

MEND is back in business

A tanker full of oil exploded and killed at least 30 people in Nigeria. MEND has claimed responsibility and say they carried out the attack with help from people in the energy industry and the intelligence services of Nigeria.

RIGZone: Nigerian Group MEND Raises Alarms with Tanker Blast

A well-known Nigerian militant group said Friday it detonated a remote explosive device that caused a fire on a tanker and said it got help carrying out the attack from people in the energy industry and Nigeria's intelligence services.

[---]

A militant group comprised of various factions and thugs, MEND recently warned of new attacks against the energy sector after peace talks with the government broke down following about a seven-month lull in assaults against energy infrastructure and employees.

"MEND salutes the patriotic agents and also use this opportunity to commend our friends inside the military and secret service for valuable information and resources," the group said in its statement.

MEND even thanked their "friends inside the military and secret service" in their statement!
