Yes I have. It however does not cover all the variables. Self replication outside of a gravity well for one.
Small simple and numerous versus large and complex, the list can go on quite a ways.

Better to say that we are unaware of any Von Neumann machines/probes, than attribute the label of paradox to a question for which we don't yet have the tools to supply all the answers.

I believe I read about this maybe 40 years ago. I was guessing at the name.

So this is a Von Neumann idea?

Well to be accurate later theorists took his ideas of "Universal Assemblers" and applied it to the problem but the name Von Neumann probes kinda stuck.

the imagination of yours is commendable and really enjoyed reading it.although,if the aliens are that much superior than us, don't you think,that they would be monitoring all the talks and threads going on in the internet?and do nothing about it?And you have compared that the aliens might have an ulterior motive as we have with cows but have you tried to imagine what the ulterior motives might be for the aliens?if yes then please do reply.
