Been hyaving a hell of a time connecting to the board this evening. Are we being bombarded again?

Additionally, Why is the site tracing to Houston and Atlanta simultaniously?

Ya...me too. Been down most of the afternoon for me.

I emailed will about it. Very strange.

edit- it also looks like the site has been "sucked down". Some of the post views look a little off. Like the OPECT vote thread seems a little high, along with some others. It's starting to dawn on me that a site this violatile should have screen grabs every so often to document just what is going on.

I just got back from my meeting with the NSA in D.C. (jk... was in DC though ) and found the board down.

We have extremely excessive connections from one high-speed IP that cause some database issues.

All seems well now.

some of them seem to have a bit more but i can't really tell.

It looks like a combination of these three things;
1- High guest traffic from an unkown source (as yet)
2- Google bot spidering us
3- Someone (looks like 2 IP's) was trying to suck down the entire site

What does "suck down" mean?

Is that "take down" in another guise, or does it mean to GRAB the whole contents of the site somehow?

I think that William is meaning that somebody is "pinging" the ATS server trying to make all other trafic form/to it impossible..

Nah,
He means that a source is "cataloging" the site...or collecting "pictures" of the site. It causes a massive amount of data to be downloaded from ATS servers, and will tie up normal traffic.

Somebody really has a "beef" against the ATS, or William is just trying to "sex" the site up..

Big questions:

Who did it?

WHY did they do it?

I would guess we are still dealing with the remnants of TBATS or some other disgruntled user(s).
If it were some "Agency" trying to shut the site down then I'm sure I would not be posting this as the site would be GONE.

Well, Fry2.. i really think that there is somekind of problem going on as even William got intressed..

But where did you get the idea that it is/was a"DOS attack"?

Have you something to do with this attack?

As to me this would seem like a insider knowledge..
