Malaysian Free Of Bird Flu: Official

Topic started on 21-9-2005 @ 11:00 AM by phixion

The state in eastern Malaysia which is on the border of Indonesia has stated that it is free from bird flu. Up until now there have been no reports of the Avian Bird Flu and the state government is taking action to prevent any outbreak.

Taken from news.xinhuanet.com...

"We don't want the people to be anxious or fearful of their safety as vigilance at entry points into the state has been heightened," State Secretary K. Y. Mustapha was quoted as saying.

The Indonesian government last week confirmed that four people had died of avian flu since this July, when Indonesia became the fourth country in Asia to have recorded human cases of the disease.

I do not personally feel that the birds and animals affected by this disease are aware of international borders.

England made this same mistake a couple of years ago and prematurely announced that Britain was free of TB...As a result of that announcement the next five index cases of TB were misdiagnosed until it was too late and it had spread out of control.
