U.S. Tries to Develop Flying Saucer

Topic started on 8-9-2003 @ 01:44 AM by omega1

Interesting article.

Dr. Metha was one of these men. He work on a secret aircraft project at AVROW Aeronautics in Canada. These were saucer type flying machines. The US had as many as 35 saucer projects with vertical lift off and descent. The most highly classified was known by code name "Silverbug". These saucers were designed to 2300 miles per hour at an altitude of 80,000 feet. Though designed in 1955 the papers describing these design were not declassified until 1995. For over 40 year America's #1 top flying saucer project was top secret.

What do you guys think?

I was led to understand that these projects were "smokescreens" to draw attention from the real "flying saucer" stuff going on at Area 51!

~After the Bob Lazar interviews i was pretty convinced. I'm just wondering why the guy isn't dead yet And ufo's are tested at site S4 located south of area 51 in a forked area of the papoose mountain range next to the papoose dry lake bed. Not at area 51. Didn't you see the interviews?!?!

Don't believe a word of what Bob Lazar says. He is an agent of disinformation. His real background is so controversial that to consider him an engineer that could get into a highly secure project to reverse engineer alien spacecraft is ridiculous. Lazar was a photographer in the 80s that managed to get $270,000 in debt. Plus his first wife committed suicide in a very suspicious manner.

Think about it .... if Lazar dies under mysterious cercumstance's it only add credibility to his claim's and hurt's the gov. If the gov play's him off as some kind a crank, they can discredit him easier.

Lots of funny things were worked on in the 50s. They were still exploiting German technology at that stage.

Also, I cant see how it being classified for 40 years really matters. There are still things from WW2 that are classified and we wont find out until the 100years are up.

I dont know a thing about Bob Lazar.

Project Silver Bug, 15 February 1955 (2.4 MB*)

30-pages of info including schematic drawings of the craft.

It is in PDF format:

You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader.

This 30-page FOIA release of a formerly Top Secret "Project Silver Bug," developed at Wright-Patterson AFB, was made to Tim Cooper in October '97. All the "release information" is printed on the cover page for the reader to see. This "saucer" designed aircraft uses "gas turbine engines," a conventional power source. The report is a preliminary design document that includes sectional drawings, performance characteristics, weight breakdowns, control systems, and problem areas.

This 1955 report does, however, fit into another story relating to U.S. Air Force interest in testing saucer designs. According to a now retired AF Lt. Col., in 1954, while a 2nd Lt., he and a few other 2nd Lt.'s came across a table full of "wind tunnel test model saucers" while in a wind tunnel test building of Area "C," Wright-Patterson AFB. It is illogical to assume that USAF as well as foreign militaries do not have modern versions of this type of craft.

Some have argued that reported UFOs are U.S. government or even Nazi experimental craft. However, those arguments can't account for the extreme maneuverability and accelerations seen in UFO reports. The right angle turns, the over the horizon disappearances in seconds; no conventional power source could provide the performance characteristics described

Project SilverBug was actually a coverup project for Project Winterhaven that began in 1952 under the direction of Thomas Townsend Brown.

T. Townsend Brown developed the Biefield/Brown effect, which is the basis of the Magneto Hydrodynamic (electrokinetic antigravity) propulsion system that currently powers the newest generation of USAF X Craft.

The original goal for Project Winterhaven was to construct a single seat fighter type vehicle using this technology, capable of Mach 3+ atmospheric and transatmospheric flight.

It is interesting to note that Project Winterhaven, at the outset, openly indicated the development of such electrokinetic propulsion, yet the later Project SilverBug indicated the use of thrust vectored turbojets. The end product of Project SilverBug was the famed (or infamous) AVRO car, which was claimed to be the forerunner of the hovercraft.
