Your best bet is to just start looking for books on the subject, look for used bookstores in your area, or stores that specialise in spiritual matters.

you should look into books on Qabalism and hinduism, especially with regards to the chakras (Sephiroth in Qabalism) and the kundilani (SP?), These are the focual points with in the body and the third eye is part of that network.

unless you have atleast a modest amount of natural ability you will need to learn to meditate, it will bring you calm and help you focus.

but i am reminded of something Aleister Crowley said in his lectures on yoga, the greatest mistake a young aspirant can make.. is to make use of his new founded ability, rather then simply noting the new changes and continuing the work, each time a new door opens for you.. there is the tendency to stand there looking through it and contimplating the nature of the door intself, do not do this.. step through the door and continue with the work, the ability is there and will be ready for use when it is needed, so keep sight of the main goal (perfect alignment with the cosmic vibrations i.e. enlightment)

i hope that helps.. i myself have no teacher.. but i do have those from whom i learn from in my time spent with them, i prefer to work alone, to figure these things out for myself. that way i know that i am following my own path, and not someone elses

Well lets see.. lets start with the A's, since it is the first letter of all western alphabets.. and it is a great place to start.. cause in my mind.. A stands for Aleister... Aleister Crowley

The man who blessed this world with some fo the finest spiritual and esoteric writings.. his work is clear and concise and without alot of superstion and myth.

To that i recomend the following, 8 lectures on yoga, the liber LVIII (58), Magick in Theory and Practice, Magick without Tears, the Book of law, the book of lies, the book of liberty, Duty, and the book of Thoth

ok.. how about a woman's touch now, there is a book by a wonderfull lady who worked with Crowley for years before her passing and the founding of her "Society of the inner light". She was Dion Fortune, and she wrote "Mystical Qabalah" amung others, but that book should be more then enough to get you started with her.

Moving on, one of my favorite authors was one of Crowleys own student, Dr. Isreal Regardie, who at great personal risk broke from the tradition of secrecy to give the world "The Golden Dawn" (The Golden Dawn is the esoteric society that Crowley had been the front man of for many years).
He also wrote "The Tree of Life" and many other books, but these two are his big works.

i suppose that will get you started.. most of Crowleys work is public domain and you can get them for free on PDF form if you look for them, and maybe the other titles if you look hard.

I hope this helps you, i am always happy to share. if you have any other questions you may contact me directly through U2U

AND Thank you, to the Moderator who has blessed me with my THIRD offical applause, it seems that my thoughts, efforts and Honest attempts to contribute to the concepts and ideas brought to bare here have not gone unnoticed or unappreciated

I strongly recommend "The Power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle.

A very simple, well written, and yet profound book
.

Well either I did not receive it, or I unintentionally deleted it. Mind sending it again?

This is the second line of my post so that MODS do not punish me for a one line post.

No worries.
For clarification, one liners actaully can be more than one liners and still get warned. It's about content. Very short remarks that add little or nothing are discouraged by giving a 20 point warn.

@ fum
Perhaps the u2u part of this discussion can be removed to the u2u area.
Let's keep this thread for general teacher request and book recommendations, okay

Crowley was a man who will go down in history as a very dangerous man. "Do what you will, that is the law." - isn't that one of his quotes. Let's analyze this quote alone. It matters not in the last what harm you do, what transgressions you make.

The link between Crowley and Anton Levey is convuted but existant. That's Levey as in Satanism. There are much better - and safer - traditions to explore. Opening your mind and soul to certain things is not a good way to seek enlightment. Almost every culture has an element of mysticism that can develop the gifts inside each of us. Please spend some time and effort exploring different discplines. At least make sure you know what you're getting into. You might not believe in the Devil, but he sure believes in you...

mod edit to shorten quote

I don't like the idea of "teachers and apprentices" etc. I never had any sort of mentor or anything. I just had what I did on my own, and peers to discuss it with. As long as you aren't a complete idiot, I consider most people my equal. I remember what it was like to have no answers, and hardly the slightest clue of where to look.

I have been researching, learning about, experimenting with, and trying to prove/disprove any paranormal/spiritual topic you can think of, for about the past.... well, almost 7 years now. Thousands of hours of hard searching through this stuff. So I personally feel I have a lot to share. Not to brag or anything, but I can probably be a lot of help to some people who are just starting. I may be able to offer assistance and answers that took me a lot more time to figure out, instead of having to learn the "school of hard knocks" way like I did (Although I still advocate experiencing it yourself as the best way to learn).

So basically... I have a lot to say, but I don't like the whole "teacher/mentor" blahblahblah idea. I don't like the idea of blindly following and listening to every idea that someone you looks up to says. Trust me, if you devote yourself entirely to following a single person and their beliefs alone, you will most likely end up despising them and regretting it. So.... don't want to be a teacher, but I am always looking for peers/friends/scholars/colleagues who are like-minded and investigating the same sorts of things.

The first thing out of the mouthes of people who are seeking teachers seems to start with "Tell me everything you know about...." And it's just like... gah! That's way too broad to even begin explaining. lol.

So yeah... if you have questions about or want to discuss anything paranormal, send me a U2U or something and we can start talking. But if you're looking for "big answers", it tends to get fairly deep and philosophical.

That's great! Read/listen to it with an open mind, you will see the truth in it.

Sorry I've never heard of that title. After you finish The Power of Now however, I recommend "Practicing the Power of Now"

and "Stillness Speaks"

Hope these help!
