Australia our closest kin i respect your sportsmanship , dedication and honour, i will support u in anything that u do, but as an english man
today i stand proud with chest open uttering the words England have won the ashes.
what weve witnessed over the last few weeks as captured the heart and soul of our two nations, god bless u australia, you may have lost the ashes
but let me tell u that you've won the heart of evey Englishman/woman.

and god bless William Blake your spirit lives on.

Jerusalem

Written by William Blake

And did those feet in ancient time
Walk upon England's mountains green
And was the holy lamb of God
On England's pleasant pastures seen

And did the countenance divine
Shine forth upon our clouded hills
And was Jerusalem builded there
Among those dark Satanic mills

Bring me my bow (my bow) of burning gold
Bring me my arrows of desire
Bring me my spears o'clouds unfold
Bring me my chariot of fire

I will not cease from mental fight
Nor shall my (my) sword sleep in hand
'Til we have built Jerusalem
In England's green and pleasant land
'Til we have built Jerusalem
In England's green and pleasant land

England

As an Australian I could only be happier if we lost the whole damn game of cricket, from out of our nation... Oh though there is a flaw in that thinking...John Howard would have to move to follow his passion and that would leave us with Costello....eee yuk!

Congrates Pomies you played well,i hardly missed a minute.

Aussies did play poorly to their regular standard, but that dos`nt take away from the fact that England played Great.

I have only one gripe against the way the pom`s played its in the last game with going off for bad light though i don`t hold it against them.

Ponting i know would not have done that to the English or anyone else only because of the under arm incident with Chapell against the Kiwis we are still embarrased about that and will never live that one down.So we are very careful in being fair and what is supposed to be in the best interest`s and fairness of the game, until you have mucked up that bad Pomies your free to do as you will.

Well played

It's not that you did'nt play well, its the fact that you did'nt realise that you could'nt score at 5 an over, (like you do against the rest of the world) you underestimated our bowling attack, Australia batted more sensibly in there last two innings, although mcgrath's injury, and the fact that gillespie coud'nt take the abuse from the crowed singing " where's your caravan ", went a long way to wining the ashes.

lol, is someone looking after Gillespie, he's a sensitive soul,

anyway god bless you Australia, England love's ya

oh.. the affection here is just saturating the affection here!!

Majic's not getting cricket..americans never did get it now, did they..
I suppose most of em' wouldn't know that they have an international cricket team..although filled with people of asian origin..they still got a team..
Well the key to cricket and how IMHO it is more difficult to baseball, is the very fact that the ball bounces!!

That gave birth to guys like murali, warnee, bedi, the wizards of spin, in the game..
Much tougher than baseball IMO

Nice to hear your taking the loss with grace, however methinks it could be more than 2 years before you get it back, unless you've been hiding some decent young bowlers we haven't seen

Yes they are not long out of retirement, but when they do we are bringing our specialist coach`s that we sent to England to teach the Pom`s to play the game they invented back to Australia to train our next super star`s.

i can hear pom`s saying this-OoooooooYouLittleAussieBast@#d!!!!

^(has to be said extremly fast)^

Somehow I think this crowing about winning the Ashes to be misplaced when England hadn't won a series for the last 18 years. Next year will be a crucial competition to see if this is just a one off fluke, or the beginning of a new cricketing power.

crowing is better than crying, not like JN Gillespie, RT Ponting and ML Hayden did,

we dont win much so plz let us have our moment

Personally speaking i think England winning the Ashes is fantastic for............
1.The selectors are now being looked at,as to why they would send out of form players.Notice in 2 3 4th test our tail enders were out scoring our batsmen?England cant claim we were beat because of a 5 pronged bowling attack if our bowlers are batting better than our batsmen.

2.I think its good for Aussie cricket if your out of form you should earn your way back into the team.

3.It gives other cricketers a chance and will encourage younger guys to take up the sport.

So i say you go England
Its about time and if losing to bangladesh was`nt a wake up call, well???? GOOD NIGHT.

Bring it on...England has got a long way to go to approach our medal tally, and you don't have Wales to help you there...or maybe you do, it is only a principality, after all, not a kingdom

Personally speaking, us getting beaten at cricket is a good thing, it was actually becoming boring to watch Australia belt the rest of the world around every time they stepped out...competition is good for the game, it's only taken you two decades to catch up...what happened to the days of fearing names like Loyd, Richards and Garner, Botham, Small and Gower, Da Silva, Khan, Miendad, Ahmanoff et al?

I can only imagine American`s saying"Cricket???what the hells that"

If they only knew!! they would love it.

The mad American sports fan that loves to sit and watch a good game either on tv or at the game live to relax, imagine a great game that go`s for 5 days straight and thats only one test,a test series is 5 tests long.

Its only slower than say base ball because the bowler has a run up.But when the bowler walks back to his mark and turns for his delivery your on the edge of your seat.

The only tricky bit is gettin your Mrs to love it as much as you
Then your set.

Another handy hint is paying someone else to mow your lawn other wise your nieghbours will think you have moved out.

Come on America get with it you`ll be glad ya did
