Breaking now, but it seems that Michael Brown, has resigned from his post as the director of Federal Emergency Management Agency.

The United States' top emergencies official has resigned in the wake of criticism over the rescue effort following Hurricane Katrina.

Correspondents say Mr Brown's decision to step down came as no surprise.

Mr Bush had already taken the crisis out of his hands, putting a US Coast Guard admiral in charge.

Please visit the link provided for the complete story.

I guess his position had simply become untenable, and that this news was not to be unexpected.
