There was also one other flag that went up, he did not mention anything about searching the truck prior to entry on the base, which is now normal procedure after 911

What if his uncle didn't mention that?

My uncle didn't metion that! Also, I'm not sure how long ago this all happened. It's only recently that my Uncle started talking about this kind of stuff with me. He has been driving trucks for many years! This might have happened Pre 9/11.

That was another thought of mine, he never mentioned the time frame anywhere, so we really have no way to know the exact security precautions in place, and even if they were properly enforced.

That looks like a MSA (munitions storage area). Thats where I worked when I was in the AF, not that particular one but several others. On all AF bases the MSA is like a base within a base. You have to have certain clearances on your line badge to even get in. The typical airman say from base admin couldnt get in. I escorted several truckers making deliveries of missile components and they never knew what they had. I believe the story to be credible because I have done it before.

Sounds like what they call Area II of the Nellis Range Complex. However, from what I've heard most MSA's are bunker compounds. What I was told about didn't sound like bunkers, the discription sounded like wearhouses. I could be wrong though.

Hey everone,

I think I just located the facility where my uncle might have been. I believe that it might be the Navajo Army Depot, just to the west of Flagstaff. I found it by accident on nationalatlas.gov. the site says the facility is now closed.

nationalatlas.gov...

If you go to zoom and set it at 400%, you can easily see the facility. I have only a few more questions

1. Is this place really closed? If so when did this place close?
2. It look like a good size facility, so why was it so hard to find the first time I went looking?

This is for the most part true, dont forget that what you see from the top doesnt mean its not there or what is really there. Been to places that if you look down it looks like a parking lot but if your standing 100 ft away from it ...... well looks arent everything. most bases have MSA's on them. its the storage unit in the middle, far side, frist bunker were ever you need to find out . but hey i just messed with wires when i was in.
