I was under the impression from both MSNBC and Real Time with Bill M. on HBO that the busses were used, until water got to deep, and weather was unsafe to drive in due to 70+ mile per hour winds. The busses were used and then got stuck on additional attempts.

This according to Mr. Maestri, the Deputy Chief of Emergency Response for Jefferson Perish, I believe.

Yeah, altering the title of this forum from "Katrina Conspiracy and FEMA Failure" to "Katrina Aftermath A Conspiracy? and FEMA Failure" (after this thread was initiated) addresses part of the problem.

I still don't see why it's all a "FEMA Failure" when you consider the majority of the initial problem lays squarely at the feet of the state and county for each region/area. It's even less of a FEMA failure when you consider FEMA was merged into (more like absorbed by) the Office of Homeland Defence, had it's budget cut, had it's departments slashed or reduced, and isn't the FEMA that existed before 2002. The division of of Office of Homeland Defence (FEMA) that is now dealing with the "Largest Natural Disaster in the History of the United States of America" wasn't prepared, wasn't staffed, and wasn't funded to deal with it.

If you'd like to truely address the problem I'd go look at your tax forms for the past ten years. Americans refuse to pay more tax, Americans demand lower taxes and at the same time want more more more from their government. In Canada, we have (on average) 15-20% higher taxes than our US neighbours. We also have universal medicare (which isn't perfect), we have far more social programs (which aren't perfect) -- and because of this we have far fewer people living in poverty (per capita), we have a far lower crime rate, and we do not have a large distrust of our government even though we give them 15-20% more of our income.

Besides all of that. There is no drama on my end because it is still not a conspiracy, and there ARE NO DETAINMENT CAMPS. The renaming of the forum so quickly is rather interesting however.
