I've heard alot about this, some say that Mars' landscape colour is similar to our deserts and not red. Why change it though? I haven't heard a valid reason why the colour matters so.

Well, one could say one of two things about this.

#1. NASA is hiding the potentiality for there being life on Mars, or at least previous life on Mars.

#2. NASA is trying to hide positive data from other countries spaceprograms for a variety of reasons.

It's pretty obvious they are changing the colors, but why, could be for a variety of reasons.
