Some years ago I belonged to an important organization called the Society for the Elimination of Acronyms, or S.E.A.

It is timely to bring the important acronyms of ATS to the attention of all, through this repository.

The following serve as just the commencing point, to be built up over time. I am the inititiator of each one, and I give them freely for convenient use by esteemed friends and colleagues.

Acronyms that deride or villify individual members with whom any members have a grudge, are not welcome here.

ACRONYMS 'R' US AT ATS:

T.W.A.T.S. : The Way Above Top Secret award, and (as a conveniently modified plural form) the small collective of its winners

R.A.T.S. : Really Above Top Secret forum, and its posters

SiGMA : The benign mythical entity that combines two separate and distinct individuals - Site Owner & Creator SimonGray - with T.W.A.T.S./R.A.T.S. ATS member MaskedAvatar. This entity is non-existent, like Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny.

SiGMAtosis : The mental disorder suffered by a small group of ATS members, corrected before it grew to epidemic proportions in early September 2003. The illness was characterized by hallucinations amongst it sufferers, who would see SimonGray when they saw MaskedAvatar, and vice versa. Extreme cases needed extended therapy including ECT therapy.

E.C.T. : Eliminating Conspiratorial Thinking, the challenging therapy required at ATS when temporarily delusional people continue to vehemently bark up the wrong tree for days on end.

RTOHFLRUCP : Round Table of High Flying Logarithmically-Rewarded Upper Crust Posters - an exclusive and elite group of disciplined, diligent high quality members.

TCA[WyTX] : Transvestite Crack Addict from Wylie, Texas.

Any thoughts?

My sanity is very well in order.

As S.E.A. must have several meanings, I guess T.W.A.T.S. must have them as well!

Any more?

MA- I guess if someone stole your TWATS, by linking to it in their avatar, they would be humilated and banned?

One member tried it, and it was removed fairly quickly. I think the admin and most of the membership is very astute.

It's not "my" T.W.A.T.S., even though I will carry on calling it my "precious", in fun and partly in emulation of what my dwarf character in the Collaborative Fiction thread may call it.

You want it - come and get it!

This month, I seem to have joined the order of T.W.A.T.S., yes.

You must be one of the Q.U.I.M.s (Questioning Users' Individual Medals).

I have done a few naked romps around the place for small private audiences! That may not be to your taste, at all.

It all depends how often you view the W.I.F.E. (Wise Introduction Forum Entry).

MA,

If you don't mind I would like to also include what could be mislabeled as an acronym, but more of a shorthand for an expletive phrase when one is truly taken aback much along the lines of WTF and OMG. It was developed from an ATS experience and therefore should be made public domain to all MATS (members of ATS).

I humbly submit:

MOF

Since the exact phrase cannot qualify as CLAP (certified language acceptable for posts) I will include the thread from which this acronym was developed. You will find the true meaning at the end of the audio/video clip.

Here is the clip:

Here is the thread:

Valhall

I recall this Armstrongesque usage of MOF well.

MOF, it is indeed an excellent and worthy acronymous acquisition.
