I thought there was a bunch of programs set up back some time that where to make living quarters and stuff in space stations what's going on with those things now you don't hear much on the process do you. Where did that idea disapear to.

They are working on it.

The programs were set up some time ago, but things like this take time. You just gotta be patient. Not to mention all the other things NASA is working on (building a robot, designing new space ships, etc.) I guess its just not their first priority right now.

ISS = $20 million per stay

Bigelow's space hotel = $7.9 million per stay

That's the expected cost. That price is largely inflated by fuel costs. When we get a space tether up and running that price would tumble to below a million in a hurry. No timelines though, it'll happen when we have the technology to attempt it.

There are many factors involved to make this a reality.

Launch vehicles to get you to a LEO are still many years away let alone the construction of the accom and associated requirements.

And assuming the above goes without a hitch.

One catastophic failure would set this movement back 5 - 10 years on top of the initial wait.
