The U.S. government sells interest-bearing bonds to individuals, corporations, investment firms (all both foreign and domestic) to raise extra money beyond what it gets in taxes, it doesn't simply just print money to cover the gap, that would cause rampant inflation.

I am starting to believe that our nation lives in an economical illusion and disasters like the one in the south is going to show exactly what our economical situation really is.

We have been living in denial for far to long, we see our government spending like if it was a bottomless pit of money some where.

Lets see what is going to happen next.

As DJ said, that's just for New Orleans.
The total GDP for Lousiana is around $140 billion (2003)

en.wikipedia.org...

In addition, as pointed out earlier in the thread, the money is going to more than just New Orleans. It's going to multiple states.

I think they're accurate.
If you can find anything else let me know.

On this site below they say the population of Lousiana was 4,496,334 in 2003 .
www.fedstats.gov...

I think the per capita GDP is around $30,000 (give or take a couple thousand) so if we muliply those figures we get the following:

4,496,334 x 30,000 = $134,890,020,000

hey acer,

according to fox news, i think Louisiana is an 11 cent state, meaning that for every person there, 11 cents per day per person is added to GDP. This is all purely TAX dollars.

I read a wel interesting artical about the ability to control and manipulate weather on www.threeworldwars.com it really made me think more, take a look.
