I know people believe in God, but in my house we called Him Gosh. Like, when we were scared, we'd say "Oh my Gosh!!" Not, "Oh my God." So who is this Gosh?

That's actually a good question.

Gosh...... I don't know.

Gosh would be best described as the man we invent because we are so petrified of this God person. Wouldn't want to offend him. He might cause a flood or something. Lord knows we already have enough of them NATURALLY.

So, who is this God person that everyone seems so scared of?

Also, besides Gosh, who are these brothers of his? You know who I mean: Golly and G. Willickers. I think the last poster had it right, that the fear of God made us create Gosh, who just doesn't sound as scary. Maybe Gosh, Golly and G. Willickers are the trilogy or whatever you call the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.....

Are you sure it wasn't Kosh? Because I'd worship him.

Sheridan: So, what's your name?
New Ambassador: I am Gosh.
Sheridan: No, that was the previous ambassador's name. What's your name?
New Ambassador: Gosh.
Sheridan: No, no, I mean what should I call you?
New Ambassador: We are all Gosh.

Gosh is easy to figure out. I'm guessing 'golly' is derived from 'god' as well.
G. Wizz is probably derived from Jesus, and G. Willikers probably derives from G. Wizz since G. Wizz still sounds too much like Jesus.

Zounds supposedly derives from 'Jesus' wounds'.

Who is the Boogey Man? Is that Satan? I had a friend we called the Booger Man, but that was different. No one was scared of the Booger Man!

Well i know for me "gosh" is used instead of God..as my grandmother was religious so when we were kids we would say "Oh my GOD" and she would slap our hands and tell us not to use the lords name in vain,

So we resorted to "oh my gosh"
