Perhaps using the money for casinos and keeping 2/3s of the city on welfare COULD have been better spent. But as usual the people arent willing to lift a finger to help themselves.

Now consider this. If these people would have taken those low wage jobs that "arent worth their time" and worked two of em. If they would have OWNED homes and PAID TAXES, money would be there. But when the government has to spend every dime on feeding and clothing people who have no desire to help themselves, these things can and do happen.

Instead of convention centers and whatnot, put that money into the infrastructer.

I feel bad for the people down there, because of the jerk they got as a mayor. Listen to his radio "speech". Hes yelling at the whole country as if its our fault. He sounded pretty sophisticated a week ago, now we see what hes really made of.

The Commander of the Army Corps of Engineers, Lt. General Carl Strock, dismissed several rumors on CSPAN yesterday. Rumors such as the one saying that the war in Iraq weakened our ability to deal with natural disasters.. Or that funds were siphoned off the levee project by the Feds. Watch CSPAN; they are sure to do a rerun of that session.

NOLA received funds and chose to build new casinos and docks for tourists, instead of strenghtening the levees. FYI, NOLA has one of the most corrupt governments in the nation. They make Cook County , Ill., look like a Boys Club in comparison, according to one politician whose name I didn't catch.

1. U really cant expect any Government official to get on national t.v.(let alone CSPAN) and say that any types of rumors are true(especially ones that can damage the image of the Government)in time like this when some heads are about to roll(again). Think of the term "Propoganda"?

2. Show me proof(a link to an official source) of N.O. recieving funds for the levee system and using it for casino's or whatever.

3. Corruption in the Government on any level is nothing new. From the small towns to the big cities, clean on down to the White House/Pentagon. Politics aint nuthin but organized street action! And thats real!

The supplies where not there, it was a lie. The first supplies where delivered yesterday. I have had the news on for 6 days now, much like everyone else, havent missed much.

Like every situation before this, things were happening the same day. Answer, Charlie, Ivan, 9/11 and so on. Nothing in any other situtation did it take 6 days to do something.. 6 days Come on.. that is 144 hrs. Like someone pointed out people where talking what will happen if something like this happened. They knew damn well what was going to happen and knew things would be bad.

About the feds taking money out of the Core of Engineers is completely correct. From what I understand from listening to thier local news is that they kept cutting funding to the levee system and now we get what we have today.. a big ass mess.

2 days ago they dropped enough water/food for 500 people in the superdome that was holding 15,000, 20,000 or whatever thousand people.

There was someone that said something like them diverting people from iraq to this.. ok we will go with that.... But think of this... After Mayor Nagin go on the radio all this stuff he was yelling about magically appeared.. EXACTLY EVERYTHING HE SAID!! I dont want to hear bs saying it took time.. thats bs.. They said the day before that interview it would take time to get drivers.. Ironically after that interview BAM things started happening...

Maybe I will make a post on what I think.. but this is only some of it.. I am trying to understand what all is happening and has happened afterwards..

I am just making educated guesses on why things dont add it.. Just like everything else.. there is a conspircy in everything. You just goto find the lies.

I think this was a test to see what would happen if things got way out of hand, and to see how people.. mainly black would react to getting no help what so ever. Also a good form of Population Control, considering to the tipical idiot it looks like an accident things didnt go right cause some moron in Washington says so.

I have been hearing alot of talk about some of these rich people talking about how they would like to kill off about 80% of the population cause we are nothing but a disease to this planet.. A freind of mine was talking after 9/11 about how they was using population controll on the people in NYC. It didnt seem to make sense. But everything that happened during this Hurricane seems to be everything that fits what all those rich peoples point on what is going on..

Think of it.. Alot of people in NO are unemployed, Most of those poor people live in a ghetto.. Most of those people are on walefare/SSI/SSD, THose same people can barely afford a car to get tf out of town, let alone a bus ticket.

So now we have 2 days after Katrina, I would have edspected to see alot of things going down like the governement getting involved at least.. people being saved from helicopters, sending people food, water, aid. But none of this happens. (dont get me wrong.. these people should have been forced out at gunpoint if they knew damn well if things were going to go down like this..) Then Mayor Nagin gets on the radio and seriously Bitches out bush, Fema, The governer and anyone else who was screwing around about things. In the time of I would guess 8 hrs..(I dont know what time that Interview took place) All this stuff that Bush, The govener and FEMA said would take time to get Ironically apeared..

It doesnt take a brain surgeon to see this, really it doesnt..

I am from Louisiana. This relief effort was a disaster from the local level on up. Here is my rant...

Mayor Nagin, Why were the several hundred buses not used for evacuation before the hurricane? After all it was a mandatory evacuation.

Governor Blanco, you are the laughingstock of the nation. No leadership whatsoever, you should immediately offer your resignation.

Dennis Hastert, New Orleans will be rebuilt, it is a great American city, and to even suggest anything different is ludicris.

Mary Landrieu, she just lost her voting base, she has got to be freaking out as she is up for reelection in 2006.

How can local and state leaders be so completely helpless and expect the federal government to come in immediately and save the day?

The same people relying on the federal government to save them are in this position because of the federal government.

***This is totally tounge in cheek, I don't want any grief over this*** But there are hundreds of thousands of vehicles to be replaced, so I am sure to be busy over the next few months!!! $$$

I kinda agree with u, but what about the disabled? Do u have any statistics on the companies that are in New Orleans? Do u know for a fact how many people arent working two jobs? or are/aren't home owners? How can u say that those people have no desire to help themselves? Poverty isn't just a result of people not wanting to help themselves, it is also a result of the type of businesses that occupy a city. Furthermore, what type of solid facts do u have(other than t.v.) that says anything about the economical condition of New Orleans prior to the hurricane?
