Now, I was just wondering, is it possible for the latest Patriot Missile system to shoot down an ICBM? This includes, Take off, Orbit Phase, and Reentry.

I guess PAC III theoretically could shoot down an ICBM, but I don't know if it has been tested in that scenario.

The PAC-3 is made for theater defence. An ICBM is not a theater weapon. The THAAD is the weapon system you want to shoot down ICBMs.

THAAD can only shoot down short and medium range ballistic missiles. A warhead from an ICBM travels down to its target at something like mach 25.

Patriot was designed solely as anti-AIRCRAFT defense. That it does and did so well against inbound STS missiles is absolutely remarkable in the least.

PAC III was designed purposely to intercept inbound STS and aircraft. All indications and testing has been spot on.
