Brazil's ambassador to Britain announced today that he does not believe the British police were guilty of a cover-up in the accidental shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes. Brazilian investigators said the police acted in 'good faith' and have no reason 'at this time' to doubt the official version of the story. Investigators are in London this week to meet with police officers and lawyers.

Scotland Yard did not try and cover up the truth about the shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes, a delegation of senior Brazilian government officials have said.

Speaking publicly for the first time since arriving in London, the officials said they had "no reason" to believe there had been an attempt to conceal key facts about the incident at Stockwell Tube station last month.

"At this point in time we do not think so, we do not have any reason to feel this," Ambassador Manoel Gomes Pereira said when asked if he thought there had been a cover-up.

This is unexpectedl! After all the hoopla about wanting to conduct an investigation it seems the Brazilians might be siding with police after all. I wonder how the Menezes family will take it? This is the first findings of the Brazilian investigators. The official police report will not be released until later this year.

We will have to wait and see what else they uncover during their week in London.
