...you won't believe this! I just read this in the newspaper this morning, and looked it up online. It's the real deal! I can't tell you what the town in Austria is named, because I would get a nice red WARN beside my name, but click on the links below and see for yourself.

Snopes
Wikipedia
TheRegister
Answers.com

And a list of lots of funny named places
here

Apparently the town in Austria has had this name for over 800 years, and is pronounced 'fooking'. They have a serious problem with English-speaking tourists stealing their town signs. (no kidding! I would take one home, too!)

There's a lot of funny ones on that answers.com list, like:

Bong Bong, Australia
Condom, France
Thong, England
Snafu Lake, Canada
Middelfart, Denmark
Latex, Texas
Dildo, Canada
Crap, Albania

(edit: I hope I don't get in trouble for posting this, lol, but it was so funny I had to! I did take the consideration of not actually naming the town in Austria, and I left out some of the real doozies on that list, in the interest of maintaining clean language on ATS)

Hey, it's all geography :p No naughtiness here, move along...

I just logged on and saw that I had a u2u in my box. I was afraid it was going to be some mod warning me about this thread. I opened it up and found to my surprise it was an applause for this, lol.

I haven't had this much fun since that guy discovered 'Uranus'

In Australia there is a town named, Nar Nar Goon.

And the local multi-purpose racetrack,

A 1.25 mile grass-track around the outside of a horse-race track in Nar Nar Goon, Victoria. Before World War Two it held the odd meeting, and in 1947 held a motorcycle meeting. Car meetings were held in 1947 and 1948, and motorcycle meeting through until 1950.

Well, at least the tactics to win any type of race on that track would be simple.

"Go fast and turn left."

And the local school insignia,
