Two US military ships, the USS Kearsarge and USS Ashland, had three rockets fired at them while they were in port in Aqaba, Jordan. The rockets missed their targets and struck land. One jordanian sailor is reported dead. The ships pulled from port following the attack. The ships are Amphibious assault ships, and had been in a joint training exercise with the Jordanian navy recently.

The three Katyusha missiles instead landed on a warehouse, a hospital and the neighboring Israeli port of Eilat.

A Jordanian security source said authorities were searching for three men after the attack, which was launched from an industrial warehouse area.

"We are searching for a Syrian and two Iraqis who are in Aqaba and used Kuwaiti (car) number plates," the source said. Another source said the warehouse from which the rockets were launched had been leased a few days ago by three Iraqis and an Egyptian.

A group claiming links to al Qaeda, the Abdullah al-Azzam Brigades of the al Qaeda Organization in the Levant and Egypt, said in a statement it had carried out the attack.

Bin Ladin's group attacked US ships at sea once before, and that was before September 11th. The war, clearly, continues. One can't help but wonder if this brash attack is a result of emboldening of jihadists militants to Israel pulling out of Gaza.

Good story, and good take on the attack. It looks like the Gaza Pullout is becoming a flashpoint for both jihadist Arabs and hardline Israelis. Isn't that just great?

speechless edit.
