Vote for the Best Heavy Metal Band of All Time

As a genre, Heavy Metal has somehow stood the test of time...What is your vote for the Best Heavy Metal Band of all time.

My own vote has to go to Judas Priest. One of the original Heavy Metal Bands, Judas Priest has pioneered the Heavy Metal sound of British Heavy Metal. Rob Halford's flamboyant style and leather and studs certainly can be credited with establishing metalhead fashion. And the band has survived the adversity of a major lawsuit that caused a two year recording hiatus.

When Rob Halford left Judas Priest, it seemed like the death knell had sounded for the band but the band continued under Ripper Owens while Rob Halford went on to have two critically acclaimed albums/bands; Fight and Halford. Furthermore, Rob Halford went on to influence the new era of Metal by guesting with Pantera and a handful of other groups.

Now that Rob Halford has reunited with the original Judas Priest, all is right with the Metal Universe again......so who are you voting for?

I'm going with Iron Maiden at the moment. *cues Aces High in winamp*

Well in recent months, during the Black Sabbath tour, Ozzy's health has been a factor. Guess who they called in to "sub" for him?.....Rob Halford from JUDAS PRIEST! Can you image what a true and dedicated "metalhead Rob Halford is? He has done double duty fronting for Black Sabbath AND Judas Priest -- often doing back to back shows for Priest and Sabbath. When Ozzy has to call on the "Priest", you know he's asking for help from the best.

Damn, it's hard to beat Judas Priest! I would say they are the metal gods.

Maiden, altho i dont listen to them much anymore they started the whole thing off for me.
