Illuminati "brand"

<<  1    2  >>

Topic started on 18-8-2005 @ 03:14 PM by Morzikaga

I've been reading Dan Brown's "Angels and Demons". He mentions and shows an ambigram as the illuminati "brand".

Is there any actual factual basis for this, or did he make it up?

If you read the first few pages before the book starts carefully he attributes it to the author, or maybe the last I dont remember.

in dan browns books ts the story that occurs which is fiction. The illuminati is a real group with these real ambigrams. Ambigrams are very very hard to make and nearly impossible to come up with

Thanks Mr 1 post count for enlightening us all, I am sure that a group that has control of according to these boards everything in existence, has to use ambigrams and brands things with them, also I am pretty sure with the right programming skills you could code something that comes up with them with relative ease.Without a computer it is probably hard to draw a fractal, with one it is no big deal. We are here to DISPEL false information not to spread it.The book is FICTION, just as the DiVinci Code was fiction.

I though ( Roslyn = Rose line) was more interesting myself.

Also always wondered about the signs that flashed in the movie like the elevator sign. Or Les Miserables poster when they start driving backwards really fast. Maybe it was just because there was a woman holding a sword?

What other hidden things were there?

If you read the opening Acknowledgments it says:

'To one of the most Ingenious and giftedartists alive, John Langdon, who rose brilliantly to my impossible challenge and created the ambigrams for this novel.'

Also the character is called Robert Langdon and not John Langdon as some of you have said.

And to the fact or fiction to the Illuminati group exsistance, that I am not sure of, however in the again in the Acknowledgments Dan Brown thanks the 'alt.masonic. members' which are mentioned on numerous occasions throughout the book, so to that there must be some truth in this fiction.... but one can only speculate.

Anybody remember when you could read the word 'Devil' in the 'Dio' logo?

When I was a kid my church had a field day with that. Also, Ozzy causing suicides, etc.

The Illuminati was a real group, from 1776 to 1785. It didn't use ambigrams. And ambigrams are not "nearly impossible to come up with" despite what the characters in Angels & Demons say. Scott Kim was publishing them back in 1975, and I'm sure I saw some of his work in Games Magazine in the early 80s, some 20 years before Dan Brown made his Langdon character look like an idiot by calling them impossible.

so i agree with your stating of most things in this post. except for the fact that you said the character in the book, robert langdon, looked like an idiot for saying that ambigrams for the time were nearly impossible to make. the ambigrams themselves were supposed to be from the time of Bernini and Galileo, not current times. There were no computers of programs to do it for them then, hence, langdon was correct in saying that they were nearly impossible to make.

I don't have a copy of the book handy at the moment, but I recall the character going off at length about how people had tried to recreate these mythical brands for centuries, and even with the aid of computers it could not be done. Or something along those lines.

Ambigrams aren't that hard to make. Although I can't do em probably there are tons of artists that do them outta basically any word. You can find them all over the net. They are cool.
