NEWS: One Dead After London Channel Link Train Fire

50 firefighters were called on to extinguish a blaze in a train on the high speed rail line currently being constructed between London and the Anglo - French Channel undersea link. One person is feared dead with another being rushed to hospital with serious injuries. The cause of the fire is unknown. The Channel link is predicted to open in 2007 and will carry commuters at high speed between Europe and England.

He said a search was under way for a second person who was believed to have died in the tunnel.

It is due to open in 2007 when it will carry high-speed trains between St Pancras station in central London and the Channel Tunnel in 35 minutes.

At this time nothing has been mentioned on the cause but coming so soon after the London train bombings, it has served to put people on heightened alert.
