I read a while ago that they are making Blair Force One now, out of a 767. What wil be in it? I doubt the thing will even have countermeasures. They plan on scrapping the entire queen's flight of BAe little jets (which I hate) and replacing it with a nice fleet of Boeings.

What do you guys think is it a good idea?

I think its a great idea. Blair should have gotten the A380 instead, after all, we made two engines.

Neither!

They should gut a Victor and furnish it with comfy stuff and arm it with the worlds most advanced countermeasures.

thats what I think.

And put a comfy chair in the bomb bay...."are you sure those doors are welded shut?"

haha!
or they could make it the escape system like in that terrible harrison ford movie air force one!

seriously, i think a victor would be cool, and very british.

While we're at it, putin should convert one of those 6 engined antinovs into his personal transport.

Just think it would be cool, thats all.

There was pressure to buy British, but BAE Systems dont make big planes. He could have gone Airbus, or a 747, but NO he got a 767. Arm it with missiles and bombs (you know, just in case of a "diplomatic" mission)

Its a pity the UK Govt, and for what its woth, the Royal family, didnt have use
of a Concorde for such travel situations.

Now thats an advert for the UK if there ever was one, one up on anything.

Heck, who needs countermeasures, it'd outrun most of em!

Well he could be unique and fly in a NIMROD, Should have a couple left over
Heaps of room for ASRAAMS in bomb bays heaps of room for ECMs.

HE could be NIMROD 1

In AUS nimrod means di##head, A person regarded as silly, foolish, or stupid.

From what i've read I think its going to be a 777, which would be the better choice.

Blair force one

What is the Current jet he uses?

Yeah a Nimrod, Why not... Or a Handley-Page Victor, aswell...

Think the actual official Bird of the British Government is a Boeing, but not sure... The only picture I have is on a newspaper and you only see the door. I know they used to take BAE planes aswell... As many other countries do, using a plane from the local company, which system tends to disappear, because of the alliance sharing planes between the companies.

Anyone got something?

You would really think, that the British government would have kept, at least 1 Concorde running, in case of absolute emergency, and the ability to get the queen out of the country, probably to Canada, i think is still the plan.

Why would they want to get the queen out of the country?

And it would costs way to much just to keep a concorde on stand-by.

Why not use a vulcan?

"Why would they want to get the queen out of the country?"

Because whether you know it or not, the queen is the most powerful, of all the royal bloodlines. Simply, she is head of the commonwealth, 10's of countries worldwide, and very important in thye world.

And the British, main objective is to keep the King/Queen safe.
Despite psycologically tha damage it would do if anything happened to the King or Queen in an emergency situation.

There is also a contingency plan for this very event. Don't have details to hand, but trust me, they do!

They ought to just give him whatever the RAF uses. That might convince him to give the MOD a decent budget for once.
