Suspected Taliban militants in Afghanistan have killed a woman they accused of being a 'US spy'. The unnamed woman was shot dead near her home on
Tuesday night in southern Zabul Province. Two male relatives of the woman have also been kidnapped but are said to be 'alive and well'.
Rebels have killed many men in a rising wave of intimidation, but this is the first time a woman has been targeted since the Taleban fell in 2001.
Six militants burst into the woman's house in Mizan district of Zabul Province on Tuesday night, district chief Haji Mohammad Younus said.
They dragged her out of her house and shot her dead before leaving on motorcycles, taking her brother and father with them, he said.
