Is conservatism hostile to democracy?

Well, of course it is, as if you didn't know.

Well, let's look at the core concepts of liberalism and conservatism. Liberalsim baiscally suggests that people are essentially good as such they can be trusted to govern themselves effectively, hence the term,"We, the people...." The people should be allowed to govern themselves in search of "the pursuit of happiness." Sounds like democracy to me.

On the other hand, conservatism believes that people are essentially evil. Therefore, a concentration of power is required to govern the people and that concentration of power should be held by elites who are the only ones who know how to govern the people; to keep people in their place.

That is why conservatives believe in an authoritarian parent; a strong police state; freedom for those only in their social class; property rights over human rights (that's why the poor get taxed so heavily) and contolling the masses through threat and fear.

Does this sound hostile to democracy? Yes. What's it sound like to you? Sounds like facism to me.

Of course it is. So is Liberalism.

Liberalism deprives freedom of choice. Liberals cram thier social utopian ideals down peoples throats whether they want them or not, for the greater good. liberalism works towards the goals of well fed and equal slaves.

Everyone is equal if everyone is a slave. Thus, liberalism and its leanings towards socialism and communism.

Liberalism is obviously a threat to freedom and democracy.

Just liek conservatives. They simply take away one set of freedoms, liberals take the other, till were all mindless drones and slaves.

The point is Colonel is that this is a politics thread and you are involved. That means that this needs to be moved before the chit chat feels the wrath of a 9 page thread of ignorance.

And i see that the mods agree as this is now where it belongs in the hellish mud pit.

Colonel, I know some psychiatric specialists that may be able to help you out of your delusional world. It may take some medications but all in all you should be better for it in the end. Worst thing that could happen is a frontal labotomy(or best, who can say).
